After the defrost mode, the water from the melted frost or ice should go down the drain at the bottom back of the freezer compartment. That drain is probably plugged with some gooey gunk. If its an upright freezer, there will be a hose clamped to the back that comes out of a plastic fitting.. detach it there and 'fish' into the plastic fitting with a short piece of wire then blow into it to dislodge whatever may be there. Blow downward on the hose as it too could (probably not) be plugged between there and the drain pan under the bottom of the refrigerator. Severe cases require that the freezer back be removed and the drain thoroughly cleaned. That gets real tricky, but its doable. Ice makers in the way complicate the process too.

Depends on how cold it's getting. Your thermostat could be bad, or you could just be low on refrigerant. You could also have a motor problem, depends on what else it is or isn't doing.

Let see if by chance the defrost timer is stuck in defrost. If doing this will cause the compressor to start you will need to replace the=> WR09X10154 Defrost TimerIf this is not the problem I want you to feel the top of the compressor to see if it is hot or too hot to keep your hand on top. This test you will need to have the freezer plugged in and set to come on. Doing this tells me that the compressor is trying to start but cannot. this model has a combination freezer. Combination refrigerator-freezers are made up of two separate units that are built into the same machine. The freezer may be situated above, below or to the side.

The freezer part is insulated from the refrigerator and a thermostat controls the temperature of both sections independently without affecting the other. It is therefore possible to defrost the fridge or freezer without disrupting the functioning of the other.

This type of freezer is available as manual-defrost, frost-free or automatic defrost.

Now the issue which you have is with the thermostat. either this is not functioning properly or you have problem with the sensor.

I would suggest you to just overlook this problem at this time because it will not affect the functionality.If later there is some problem later on you may ask ham to look for this one also.

i need more info to determine the issue here. 1 what is the temp its achieving when it cycles off? Have you checked your condensing coil for dust and cleaned it with a vacuum?

Hi, You may have defective capacitor and or overloaded compressor. Check the current draw.

check the door is closing tight first,,if it is try turning the thermostat down a bit more,,if that dont work you may need a new thermostat fitted and maybe even a re-gas and a new compressor
how old is the freezer???

I would replace the thermostat because is the only thing that controls the temp. , also there's a timer and a terminator but them are only for defrosting the unit.

HI to clean the drain tube. pull fridge away from the wall .find the drain tube, by the drain tray. push a small plastic hose, up the drain tray. blow in the hose, to clear the debris. thanks the appliance doc.

If this is a frost free model the fan could be bad. If not frost free it is probably low on freon. I don't recomment fixing this as you can never really trust the freezer again. Most of the time the leak can't be found and adding freon is only a temp solution.

HI the heat on the outside of the cabinet is normal. the freezer is now working properly give it 24 hrs thanks.

It sounds like a freon leak. This can happen when moving it. I don't recomment fixing it. You can get it charged again and it will work for a while. This will cost you about $75 - $100. You can't do this yourself as you have to be certified to buy freon. The reason I don't recomment fixing it is because when it goes out again you will lose all food. Since it is a freezer you probably don't open it every day and you might not notice that anything is wrong. Try to lay a guilt trip on the seller and see if they will take it back.

make sure your fans are working. one is in freezer section,the other at back by your compressor.

Great question but I cannot answer it. GE makes several models of chest freezers and they are not all wired the same. My eyesight is not to good and I cannot see your freezer so I cannot answer your question. You might try our friend google and look for the make and model of your freezer with the prefix schematic.

Was it very iced up? That can cause bad temperature registration. Also turning it off for an extended period resets the electronics. Monitor it for a week, then order the beef.
