Check the fuse in the plug. If this is fine check for an output voltage from the AC adapter usually about 19.5 volts DC. If this is present it is like you have a damaged DC connector on Laptop motherboard.

Turn off the hibernation feature. The only way to fix this issue is to upgrade the firmware on the motherboard. Simple to do but you run the risk of ruining the motherboard is you do it wrong.

This process will reset the motherboard to default. If u still have the same problem then you'll have to test each hardware component. If thats too timely then get another computer. Its cheap these days. Suggestion of componence to check; if memory problem ur mobo will beep. If hardisk problem ur compu will remain to stay on but blank screen. If video card problem then u get wat u got turns on then goes off

Does BIOS still recognize the drive? Also, check to make sure the IDE / SATA cord is fully connected, the dirve will operate with power, but wont be recognized without the other cord. If the cords are connected and BIOS reads it then win7 should autodetect it. If its not, it may be the disc itself, try putting something you know for a fact works. If the problem persists, try adding the hardware through the device manager, or deleting all mention of it, then re-adding it through the device manager. This tricked worked for Xp machines, although Ive never had to try it on a Win7 machine, it should still work.

select your operating system and make sure you select if you have a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system once drivers are installed you should get audio out of your headphone jack if you still do not get no audio then i would contact HP for repair

I am having the same problem. I have a compaz f767NR laptop in which the DVD drive is not reconigzed by the laptop. I have already looked and tried many different solutions and all have failed. It is not visible on device manager I tried changing the registry but missing lower and upper filters. I also tried the windows fix it but still unable. I have vista home premium. Any other solutions?

To narrow this down, try a different CD or DVD. If it's working with another disk, then your problem is likely that the disk is scratched or broken. If it doesn't, then it could be a hardware problem.

To rule out a software problem, go to Start > My Computer, then double click on your DVD Drive. Make sure the disk is in it. If it doesn't recognize it, then the problem is with the optical drive itself. The first thing I would suggest is going to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager, removing your optical disk drive then restarting the computer.

If this doesn't fix the problem then your disk drive may have overheated or the laser lens inside needs to be cleaned. However, unless you know what you're doing, this should really be done by a service technician. You can cause permanent damage to your Notebook if you don't know what you're doing inside of it.

Good luck... this is not easy even when you think that you have found the correct drivers.

Get a can of air. Blow the intake vents out. Buy a notebook cooler. Your laptop is overheating that's all. FYI. The laptop draws air in from the bottom. Only place your laptop on hard, smooth surfaces as this will help with air flow. That means don't put it on your bed or the carpeted floor.

Unplug the AC Adapter and battery from the laptop and hold down the power button for about 10-20 seconds and put it back again. Also you may need to reseat the RAM before turning on the system.

In case somebody has the same problem. Result of my investigation: * If everything is ok then the Presario CQ61 boots without battery. * HP support recommends to do a hard reset i.e. remove power supply, remove battery, press power button to discharge everything internally, connect power, press power button In my case the problem was solved by changing the AC Adapter (Power supply). Note: The led besides the power connector is not reliable. It is on with the working and faulty adapter. Note: The voltage level at the battery pins is not reliable. I had same values.
