I have acer aspire 6930. i turn it on and it goes directly to a screen acer erecovery management. i restarted it and hit F8 until i got the safemode screen. i made a choice and it took me right back

What preceded this issue? did you try to do a recovery? OS upgrade? If not you can try a "Cold Start",Remove AC plug from wall outlet, Remove battery, Hold down on/off button for 10 seconds, Replace battery, plug into wall outlet and start normally. That's I good place to start, If you havent tried it already. ALSO remove any Media, as in CDs, DVD, USBs etc. let me know what the results are we can try something else. be as specific as you can.

My laptop wont come on

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine. If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs. In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear. In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Asking hard disc password

If there is a password on the hard drive it will be difficult to remove. The drive can be wiped or you can buy another drive (making sure it is a SATA drive).

When my daughter trys to boot up her Acer Aspire

Are you talking of a on boot BIOS password or a hard drive passwod lock?

You have two options:
1) Contact Acer, provode them with proof of ownership and they will help you reset the password.
2) Remove the CMOS battery in the laptop therefore erasing the password.

If you are thinking of going option 1 then you can head over to the Acer support center here.

If you are going with option 2 then you will need to open up the laptop and locate the CMOS batter, it looks something like this:

slasher_x_19.jpg
Then you will need to disconnect it and wait at least 10-15 minutes. I suggest leaving it unplugged overnight. Then plug it back in and put the laptop back together. I suggest you actually get a PC technition to help you if you are not sure how to take laptops apart.
