which service pack?? sp1 and 2 dont support sata harddrives you have to get sp3 on a disk or slipstream the drivers into the os cd for sata harddrives
My acer laptop 5530 won't
I have the same problem. I connect the laptop to an external monitor and still have the same error.
I tried to change the hard disk, memory, processor, video card, but has the same problem.
Seeking a solution still and know that the problem is somewhere on the motherboard.

re-seat it,
this is usually accessed by lifting the keyboard on most models. Keyboard is held in place by a couple of screws on the bottom of the unit.

Hi. Try to press and hold the Fn key then press up arrow to adjust the volume up and down arrow to adjust the volume down.
Cannot create audio input (line-in)
Your Mic input is still probably the best to use, at a guess the only one.
Once connceted, go into your control panel, click on "Sounds and Audio devices" Under the "Volume" tab, Click on the "Advanced" box which is in the "Device Volume" box.
A new box will appear "Volume Control". If the Mike input is not include then click on options then properties and check the Microphone box.
The mike should now appear in your volume control box, ensure the volume is up and the "Mute" box at the bottom is not checked.

remove the battery and adapter. press power button for 30 sec. then connect the adapter. press power button. if this didnt work. you need to ask for an help of a local tech to check for the video card and cable.

You have a really bad program. Identify it and uninstall it.To identify it just open the Task Manager at the Processes tab and look at the CPU load - the faulty one will shoot to 99% just before the freeze.

Download this file and burn it to CD. Put into drive and turn on PC, and boot from the CD. Follow instructions, choose the correct USER. & BLANK the password. make sure you say OK to write the data, and reboot. The logon password will now be reset blank.

They should be able to provide you, if you provide the serial number for the unit, with the make of the mainboard used in the unit. Even if they don't supply you directly with the info required on the placement of the CMOS battery on the board a quick trip to the site of the mainboard manufacturer should find the info you require.
