Dell Inspiron 1501 PC Notebook Questions & Answers
I have an Inspiron 1501 dell, the problem is that some keys have shifted.ie type "&" gives another symbol. what should i do?
this thing is old right? made 2006 so is 13 years old today.and is xp or vista , bad news.https://pcdied.com/XP-sux-sg.htmlvista released January 30, 2007 so is not vista. I guess.?so why not take any usb keyboard made and try that.if that works then we know the relic internal is dead. or just software bunged up.we can boot to Linux demo disk and see of the keys workall techs do that, takes 5 min work.and omg the keys work in Linux. so windows is BORKED!("corrupted".no OS stated, at all if XP this is normal for XP it is a virus magnet.do not run XP ever again if doing so now, OK?what also can change is language settings set wrong.and last."&"gives what? that is shifted character.shift 7so if 7 works and all shift keys fail then shift is bad.so use the right shift, does that work.?try all keys and see what works and not. if Linux fails ,then the keyboard is toast.. (ask how to boot free Linux demo mode "try me" at one of the best ways to test ANY PC after Windozgoes mad?is to boot from Linux demo desk (harmless it is)we make a USB stick or burn a DVD-r disk and boot it. then run Linux see how it runs for what ever the ill's may be. bad keyboard or HDD test top my list.http://www.pcdied.com/linux.htmlboot it and click "TRY ME"one other way (weaker by far) is to use BIOS and test your keyboard, but sadly a full test is not possible there.
Can I upgrade a Dell Inspiron 1501 to an AMD Turion TL-64 ?
The first thought I had was...
(back in the old days when we OVER-CLOCKED =
lots of
excess HEAT ( promptly dismissed )).
You are talking about a "
MANUFACTURED" chip ...
I'm guessing you have already done the
"pin-out" (battery, ground... bus /bus, bit by bit compatibility)
Sounds like a great idea...
The only caution I have it to keep track of which steps you have done so you can METHODICALLY
BACK OUT should
your experiment NOT be such a GRAND IDEA.
And...
always wear wrist straps (
ESD: anti-static (of course)).
ELECTRO-Static DISCHARGE wristband (see below).
I would really love to hear of your results ...
>> tribulations (or not) on your way to success.
Good luck.

Usb not working
This could be a problem with your USB drivers. Check through the device manager to see if all the USB ports drivers are installed. If not, re-install the USB drivers. This will solve your problems.
Screen is flickering constantly and goes black after a while
Look for your computer's monitor settings, then adjust its refresh rate. To modify a refresh rate on Windows, right-click anywhere on the Windows desktop. Select "Properties," then choose the "Display Properties" tab on the window that appears. Click the "Settings" option, then select "Advanced" from the window that appears. Choose the "Monitor" tab, which lets you access a drop-down menu with the options for refresh settings adjustments. As a basic guide, use a setting of at least 75 hertz. Confirm the change by clicking "Apply." Reboot the PC to ensure the new settings on the screen take effect. Check your screen if the blinking problem is resolved. If not, try a higher refresh setting. If there is no change on the flickering of the screen, this means the problem is not caused by the screen's refresh rate. If your computer is not running on a battery or surge protector, shut it down to safely transfer the plug to another outlet Hope this helps.
My dell inspiron 5100 battery will not charge and
You should call Dell to check if your battery is still working.
If it is, it's possible that your laptop's motherboard has a problem or your ac adapter.
If your computer is still under warranty, they can replace the necessary parts for you.
My notebook does not have a local area connection
Hello cornellcampb,
The Netgear WG111 USB Wireless Lan Adapter is a decent WiFi LAN adapter. It is reasonably priced and it's software is easy to install. I've been using it for a few years and it works fine.
If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.
Have a great day,

I forgot my log in password for my dell
Hello,
If there is some other admin user on this computer you can ask him/her to login the change the password fro you. if not Windows is serious about security and that is fool proof you need to reinstall OS.
Thanks
