Ok, free movies do that and your device is ment to spend money on, so yeah it will do that. You can try to check your settings promissions and ok to all. Also its factory loaded, so hook it up to pc and reset it and load up new firmware thas capabil with you device, that don't work don't streem free movies they are as they come
It's done in software. go through the menus, look at the options, and select wifi on or off at the appropriate place. (pressing the 'home' button might be a good place to start) I keep wifi permanently off on my kindle. It might make a difference as to which version of the kindle you have because the way you do this almost certainly depends on that. It may lead to more more helpful answer if give the version of the kindle you have.

go to settings then look for rest unit to factory default, it will of course wipe out all old info so you need to RE register the unit, but it will be like new, then you will be able to use You're uniqe Id follow all onscreen directions and record all Passwords somewhere safe. for any Problems You may have in the future. Chances are your screen went defunct. Or it could be a problem with some other piece of hardware. You can try using the USB cord to plug it into the USB port on a laptop or desktop and see if the computer can read the files. If it can display and explore folders and files, chances are it's the screen (display) that went south. It it can't display and read folders and files chances are it's the memory or some other internal hardware that died. Sadly these things are cheaper to replace than to repair. I have a Kindle II with a faded out display. It works but the text is so light that it's barely readable so I retired it. I have a Kindle Touch that I dropped and the screen broke so I ended up getting a Kindle Paper White and I like it the best of them all.
