The Nuvi 1350 always recalculating
Hello All,
I am trying to get together enough individuals to file a Class Action Lawsuit against Garmin Intl. regarding the issue of their units having the "Recalculating and freezing" problem. I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 430N Nav System in it that has been experiencing this issue. After calling Garmin numerous times, and being told that they have no idea of the problem, I was told to take the vehicle to my dealer where the unit would have to be replaced. This is a very expensive procedure! I began researching the issue and have found that this particular problem has been ongoing since back in 2011 and is not limited to the in-dash systems only.
So, since Garmin will not step up and help the consumers by addressing and fixing the problem, I am looking to go the route of litigation to help all those who have had the same issue. I am in the beginning stages so if you are interested please let me know by emailing me your name ONLY to
[email protected]! Once I have enough people on board I will take this to my attorney and at that time you will be asked for your full contact info by him.
Remember, I need ONLY your name. I am not collecting any personal or identifying information myself The attorney will handle all of that. Thank you for your time.

What is a hard reset for Garmin devices?
An extend operation of the off switch causes a hard reset on most GPSs.
Otherwise a factory reset maybe what you are asking and this depends on the model requiring from as simple as a press of the reset button (if available) or holding the off/on button along with a corner of the screen.
Will not come on was working fine before
If the USB port was fine, the unit would come on regardless if the battery was good or not. This is telling me your USB port is loose. We fix these all the time. Most issues causing this is a bad charger, dead battery or caused by a
loose USB port in the back. If the port is loose, the battery will not
be charged and won't even work when connected to an external charger.

How do i get my computer to see my 1350 garmin nuvi?
The problem could be the computer's USB port or the cable. Make sure that you aren't connecting to a USB hub or a dock. Try a different USB A to mini-USB cable (match the number of pins and shape of the mini USB connector). Try installing the Garmin Agent software manually from
http://www.garmin.com/agent .
Make sure that the Nuvi 1350 is fully charged. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and turn off the Nuvi. Then turn it back on. Reconnect the cable to the computer at a different USB port. (If you are using a front port, try one of the back ports. Do not just switch to a top or bottom port since every pair of ports share a controller.) If you are using Windows, check if the Nuvi is listed as a mass storage device (press the Windows key + E or double-left click on the My Computer (Computer) icon). Recent security changes prevent USB devices from triggering the Auto-play feature on Windows. (You can change this from the Control Panel in the Hardware section for AutoPlay.)
Next try using a different computer if you can. If the Garmin Nuvi correctly communicates with the second machine, you may want to check the USB controller. Go to the Device Manager (from the Control Panel under Hardware) and expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers. You can remove the driver or check for updates. (Check for updates manually from the computer manufacturer as well.) Reboot the computer and check if the ports work. Check if other USB devices work on those ports. USB ports can fail. Sometimes, you might notice a device getting hot while connected to a failing port. Other times, the port just isn't getting enough power. Check if the power supply is sufficient for the number of devices both inside (hard drives, video card, etc.) and externally connected to the computer.
I hope this helps.
