There are two ways to get your serial number.
The first is through the phone screen by typing +#06# and your serial/imei number will be displayed on the screen.

The other method is to remove the back cover of your phone, remove your battery and check on the back of your phone below the where the battery is placed to view your serial number. it is written in digits with a starting word of "imei"

call your customer care and get the message center number. after getting that follow the below instructions carefully go to messages-->message settings--->message centers--->add center---->enter the number given by your customer care( eg: +919884****** for vodafone) after doing this save your settings! restart your phone. Then, using Magic Keys, remap key 192 and key 193 both to 186. Set Magic Keys to start on boot and restart the phone. That should do the trick although sometimes Magic Keys starts missing it... if that happens, just restart the phone.

Remap key 192 (zoom left) to 186. Then remap also 193 (zoom right) to 186 (operator key - not available on 6710).

Setup Magic Keys to start on boot. Then reboot the phone.

This prevents some of the zooming although once in a while, Magic Keys misses it.

hi,the battery is definately bad for it to be running down so fast,i will advice you don't disable the GPS,i will rather advice you to get a new battery and try to adhere to the following terms below. 1.do not make use of the mobile phone while the phone is on charge,either browsing or receiving calls is prohibited and also dangerous to once health.2.make sure the battery gets to a bar or two on the battery bar before you attempt charging.thanks

amazingly the auto zoom in out is not a software problem.. it's hardware problem nd that's is why nokia is not getting in to help as its gonna cost it alot. the problem is that the upper portion has become touch sensitive. the acceot key , hang up key,the two selection keys and the navigation keys are made touch sensitive "delibrately" or intensionly.

Nokia website offers specific pc suite for specific phones. downloading the specific pc suite for ur model will solve the problem.

Richard, To do that you must install the Nokia PC Suite to your Mac and then connect the phone thru a USB cable or BT. Once connected you can backup the data, use it as a modem to connect to the net, xfer files to and fro., install third party progs etc etc.

That could be the result of someone trying to jail break the phone. The IMEI numer is a specific identification number for that specific phone and if changed will render the phone useless.

Question edited for clarity. So the phone was likely stolen in Australia and shipped to Sri Lanka for sale. For the technician to unlock it by playing with the IMEI, it must have been PUK Locked AKA a SIM Lock. To remove a normal customer set PIN Lock, you just do a hard reset which scrubs the phone clean and reloads the operating system with no lock. A PUK Lock can only be removed by the carrier that provided the phone. The technician tried the impossible task of removing an RSA 128 bit encryption lock by playing with the firmware and corrupted it. You have three choices 1. Give it back to the technician and tell him to fix his mistake 2. Send it to Nokia to have the firmware and IMEI reinstalled 3. Throw it away.
