Straight from the horses mouth so to speak, that's leeched from a Downgrading site. I further checked out, and it seems to be 100% correct.
In my investigations i found an interesting post where someone, edited certain files, and changed the update's number, and it simply worked? Now IF The installer does everything, from a clean setup, and I imagine it would have to, or remnant data would remain, there is NO reason why this won't work, As a computer engineer, back in the day, we would do stuff like this alla time, to get around issues, so anyway i'll post the link, A snippet from the post. if ya read the whole thing they flame the kid real bad, But ya know i actually think he may be onto something..?

I used a hex editor on the 5.03 EBOOT.PBP file and replaced every instance of "5.03" with "5.55" and saved it. Then I put that file on my memory card and used it on my psp... It worked... sorta. The file was accepted as a new update and began to install, but I didn't let it finish because the fear of bricking my system.

when you are charging the Psp you must be care full bz any high voltage may affect your psp board so pls check your board take it to repair shop ...................

The 3.71 firmware is a 3rd party custom firmware. 6.2 on the other hand is Sony's official firmware. Essentially it's like running Apple but wanting to upgrade to Windows 7, since you're running a different firmware, you won't be able to upgrade to the official 6.20.

Restore Default Settings and it will change to 0000 or 9999

If your pirating games from the internet and putting them on the psp 3000 it will say its corrupted.

try using a new memory stick or try downgrading it

Make sure its charged. If thats not the problem, consider purchasing a new battery.

no but the thing that will help is by deleting any unused files from the memory stick

ummm, maybe u can buy on ebay another little turn on off button cause there is no other way,,,

If you're on fw 5.03 or lower (Upgrade to 5.03) Use ChickHenR2 -> Hellcats Recovery Flasher V1.60 (With Firmware update 5.00 in folder) to upgrade to 5.00 M33-6.

If you're above 5.03 ofw, then you need to purchase a Pandoras battery from say Dealextreme or another site that sells them and create a MMS, either using Rains MMS maker or a premade MMS.

You can DL Chickhen, Hellcats and the firmware updates from Psp-hacks.com

you might need a Pandoras battery

then create a connection .

you go to infastructure mode and scan for networks
after that you can browse using your psp.
