Nikon d90 control panel not working

In the (English) manual, on page 183 you find d9 from the menu settings (d; Shooting / Display): LCD illumination. At the default setting of Off, the control panel backlight (LCD illuminator) will only light while the power switch is in the D position. If On is selected, the control panel will be illuminated while the exposure meters are active (pg. 35). Select Off for increased battery life. This option is available in all shooting modes. So you have to go to the menu settings d9 and switch it on again.

E33 error showing on my nikon d90

I can't find E33 in the manual. The manual although says in a note on Electronically-Controlled cameras: In extremely rare instances, unusual characters may appear in the control panel and the camera may stop functioning. In most cases, this phenomenon is caused by a strong external static charge. Turn the camera off, remove and replace the battery, taking care to avoid burns, and turn the camera on again, or, if you are using an AC adapter (available separately), disconnect and reconnect the adapter and turn the camera on again. In the event of continued malfunction, contact your retailer or Nikon-authorized service representative. Note that disconnecting the power source as described above may result in loss of any data not recorded to the memory card at the time the problem occurred. Data already recorded to the card will not be affected. On the other hand, when you use a different lens, Something could go wrong. If F-- blinks, the camera means, there is no lens attached or a non CPU lens is attached. When your lens does not have a CPU, you only can shoot in the M-mode. Why not try the command rail in the M-Mode? When FEE appears, the Lens aperture ring is not set toy the minimum aperture. You should use the highest number on the aperture ring. Only on rare occasions the sensor for the aperture is broken and will give an error. Try moving the ring in the camera and see if the error stays when you turned the ring to the maximum.

I get a message r13 and the camera does not shoot in AF mode

Try another lens. Make sure the camera is set to AF.R13 is not an error message - the camera is telling you how many images you can take before the camera has to stop and write to the memory card. Please consult your users manual for further information

A slight squeaking/beeping noise when camera is turned off and on

Ciould be the camera is cleaning it's sensor. Try turning that feature off to see if the noise goes away. If yes, that's your noise. Then turn the option back on. It's good to have your camera clean the sensor.

"micro" usb port needs to be replaced

Consider NOT using the USB port.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

50mm f/1.8 not working with Nikon D90

If the screen is saying "FEE" and not "f/33" then you need to set the aperture ring to its smallest setting (largest f/number). You control the aperture from the camera, the same as on a lens without an aperture ring.

How do you turn off AE/AF Lock on a Nikon D90?

You may download a copy of the manual from here.By default the AE/AF Lock only holds while you hold down the AE/AF Lock button on the back of the camera. If you've changed the configuration so that this button locks the AE/AF, you can unlock it either by pressing the button again or by turning the camera off and on again.
