GE Profile Refrigerator model #TXP24PRYE with yellowed handles

Hi,

Spray with clorox all purpose cleaner and scrub it with hot or warm damp wash cloth. If the handles are plastic, Krylon makes an excellent line of spray paint products that bonds to plastic and adheres to the surface. Most spray paint products only coat the plastic and on a surface like a handle that will be used constantly, is easily scratched or peeled. The Krylon plastic paint bonds to the plastic surface and is very durable. The one down side is if you paint the handles and don't like the results, there is no going backwards, you can't remove the paint once it has cured.

Thanks.

Not cooling properly GE TFX20JR

Your refrigerator has a defrost thermostat inside the fresh food section behind the light cover and control panel. Need you to turn it clockwise slowly until the compressor stops. Leave it like that and after 30 minutes or less it does not restart you will need to replace the timer. The defrost timer is part number WR9X489
You should hear sounds from freezer with door open like sizzling or crackling. That would be the defrost working. If there is no defrost during this time. let me know so we can look into the defrost element and defrost thermostat as possible problems. Visit my site and enter the model or part number into search feature. That takes you to your model. Any questions or help from me, just let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Do you have ice /frost buildup on freezer wall?If so auto defrost is not working.3 possible causes ,turn the defrost timer manually to defrost position either measure amps @ 3.5 amps or listen in freezer section for crackling popping or sizzling. If you dont hear/measure this you have a bad heater or defrost tstat .Remove freezer wall look at top of coil for thermodisc 2 wires and 1 or 2 glass heaters (btm, mid coil).Tsat can be bypassed by connecting the 2 wires or checked for continuity closed at approx 20'.heaters may be visibly burnt or broken recommend changing both parts

Frezzer coil water is dripping on it

I'm not sure about your icemaker, but i think it should be fine. Simply put, fridges or freezers have to get hot to make themselves cold, and they do drip water from time to time, although usually not a substantial amount. If you want to learn more wiki fridges freezers etc. the water should be an issue unless there are some exposed electrical wires located near it.

I have a GE GSS25WGMD BB Fridge. I have already

First, when the refrigerator is running, open the freezer door and hold in the light switch so the freezer light goes out. You should be able to hear the freezer (evaporator) fan running. If it is running, then you most likely have a problem with the air damper. It is a motorized door in the very upper left side, back corner, of the fresh foods section. The door needs to be open for air to flow into the refrigerator section. If you place your hand near the vent holes at the upper refrigerator section and the freezer fan is running, FF section warm, you should feel cold air entering. If not, the damper door may have broken. It is not real easy to get at to replace, but that is where your problem may be. Be sure to check the freezer fan first, as a non-working icemaker may point in that direction.

GE Profile TFX25 just stopped

It's stopped completely First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on.

Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these:
  • Wiring

  • Thermostat

  • Defrost timer

  • Compressor

  • Overload and/or relay

My GE side-by-side refrigerator is making a fairly loud ticking sound--about once every second-sounds like a big clock.

Water line to ice maker is frozen. Thaw out freezer. Put food in dry ice cooler and open freezer door, reset to OFF, and thaw freezer for four hours. It'll work after that.

No water

GE's are bad for the water supply line freezing inside the freezer door. Also,a clogged water filter will cause the same thing. I have used a hairdryer in the past to unthaw my water dispense line.Good Luck!!

GE Refrigerator side by side loose door handles

I was actually trying to find a solution to this problem myself though I'm pretty sure I already know the solution. Try this: grip the handle that's loose firmly and jerk it up. The handle should come up and the straight out to reveal the spring clip mechanism holding the handle on. Tighten the screws on this and then put the handle back on by pushing it towards the fridge and jerking it down. You make want to protect the fridge above and below were the handle attaches so you don't scratch the fridge door when pulling the handle on or off.

For a GE refrigerator model GFSF6KEX, how do you remove the ice tray? (Not the freezer drawer, just the tray.)

To remove the ice tray from your GE refrigerator model GFSF6KEX, follow these steps: Empty the Ice: Before removing the ice tray, empty it of any ice cubes. This will make it easier to handle. Locate the Ice Tray: The ice tray is typically located in the freezer compartment, usually near the ice dispenser or ice maker. Grasp the Bottom Edge: Stand in front of the freezer and open the door. Grasp the bottom edge of the ice tray on the sides. Be cautious not to place your fingers near the opening at the bottom front part of the bucket where the crusher blades are located. Lift Up the Front: Lift up on the front of the ice tray so that it clears the stops on the ice bucket rail. Pull the Tray Forward: Pull the ice tray forward and out of the freezer compartment. Reinstalling the Tray: To reinstall the ice tray, follow these steps: Line up the flange pieces on the sides of the tray with the channels in the ice bucket rails. As you push the ice tray all the way back, lift the front of the tray so that it clears the stops on the front of the ice bucket rails. Verify that the tray is properly inserted by pulling it forward. It should hit the stops on the rail and not come out. If it does, push the tray further back. Check for Misalignment: If you're unable to push the ice tray all the way back, it might be due to a misalignment between the back of the auger (located in the tray) and the prongs on the auger motor (mounted in the back freezer wall). To fix this: Remove the ice tray. Close the freezer door. Press the dispenser for cubed or crushed ice; you should hear a snap. Open the door again and reinstall the ice tray. Remember to handle the ice tray carefully, especially if it's full of ice.
