Lakewood HV 18-c Floor / Box Fan Questions & Answers
Fan Blade is hard to turn
Can try a little oil, if you can see the bushings onthe motorHave to remove the fan, to get to the front oneThat will work a couple months, then it's off the the recycle center for the fan
Do you bypass the run capacitator on a lakewood model hv-18 fan with a 2.4 motor
More than likely it's not the start capacitor why your fan will not run this more than likely it's not the start capacitor why your fan will not run this lubrication try turning the fan motor by hand if it does not turn freely it's lubrication I have answered this another post.
more than likely it is lubrication spray WD-40 into the oil holes after you have unplugged the fan of course Keep turning the fan and you'll notice will start turning more freely apply more oil to the rear of the motor as this is an oil bushing you're putting more oil into
hope this solves your problem
Troubleshooting lakewood fan model hv 18
This one the best brands on the market that I have ever owned.
If the fan motor will not turn on or hums and/or turns slowly more than likely its a lubrication problem.
1. Unplug the fan from the wall remove the 516 screws to the cage
2. Try turning the fan blade by hand if it is tough to turn more than likely it's a lubrication problem
3. You will have two oil holes one in the front one in the back spray WD-40 into these holes, turn the fan blade if it starts to free it up apply more WD-40 and keep turning the blade add more WD-40 until the blade turns freely. Especially in the rear oil hole because this is an oiled bushing that you are adding oil to. Once the fan is turning freely replace the front cage with all the screws plug the fan and I hope this solves your problem. You may add 3 in 1 oil or some other very light lubricating oil periodically.
I hope this solves your problem Mike
My fan had been slow to start spinning and as time
I have found that fans like this that sit on the floor are prone to get hair wrapped around the shaft. (Especially in my daughter's room!) You can't see the hair because its hidden by the hub of the fan blade. You have to open the cover and remove the fan blade from the motor. There might be a set screw on this one. Some just pull off. Once you get the hair removed, confirm if the shaft is easy to turn with your fingers. You can oil the front bearing without further disassembly (use a light weight oil, like sewing machine oil, but not WD40 which is too light) If it's still hard to turn you will have to disassemble the motor to oil the rear bearing, unless there is an oil hole.
good luck,

I have a HV-20G floor fan, And I have no
In that particular model, there is a small thermo fuse connecting the white wire and the yellow wire(there are 2 yellow wires coming from the capacitor). It's hidden in the coil so you can just cut the wick in that area an pull those two wires and you are going to see the fuse(small square shape one).
I have a floor fan
no, the capacity is way too high.... get a capacitor of at least 1,5 uF or up to max 4 uF if you happen to have one lying around
My lakewood high speed floor model HV-21T stopped
Try replacing the "start-run" capacitor. It is the rectangular black box mounted on a tab next to the motor inside the cage, two wires attached (cut them close as close to the capacitor body as possible). Other symptoms include not moving at all with a hum, and getting very hot. The capacitor is a 5% tolerance 8 microfarad rated at 250vac. It doesn't have to be the exact form factor but it does have to be heat rated at or above 70C per design parameters of the fan.
WARNING! Make sure to protect the leads properly because this capacitor is connected directly to the power mains during operation. If one of the leads electrically shorted against the fan housing or cage could cause a catastrophic failure of the fan, and possibly a fire, and possibly give a nasty shock to whoever was switching on the fan at the time.

Wht is the correct wiring
Hi,
White is the common or neutral...
Black is the high speed...
blue is medium...
red is low speed...
hook them up right in that order....

Motor just hums, won't turn
If you remove the cover screen and take compressed air or just a brush to clean out all dust and dirt from the motor the fan may run again
Dust is a standard contributor of these fans to quick turning
Why is fan floor spin but not air is flowing
mcdevito75 here, Check to see if there is a reverse switch on the fan, most of them do, if so flip the switch for proper air flow. the Reverse switch may be together with the speed / on/ off switch either by pulling in it or depressing it, or the reverse switch could be seperate, as say a littler toggle switch. The reverse switch could be with the on/off switch, try to pull or depress the on/off switch and note fan spin direction, also try to twist the on/off switch for fan reversal.
Will not run
Remove the plug and starrt from the plug to the fan unit connection, use a multimeter to check on the continuity of the wire and move on to check the switch and to the coils of the fan. See if the coils are short internally or if the winding is shorted to the ground. Check the capacitor if the coils are fine , replace and power. You fan must work or else you must check once again with a meter in ac mode the supply till the coils to confirm if the switch is working. I am sure unless the winding are short( in which case you will need rewinding) the fan will work. Hope you get this right. Good day
