Patton U2-1487 Floor / Box Fan Questions & Answers
My dog ate the cord to the fan I need to know how
Hi mlh9188
You can replace your cord that was eaten by your dog very easy.
Disassemble your fan.
Be sure to mark how the fan is assembled with an awl or sharp instrument to scratch an alignment scratch on the outside of the motor case before you disassemble it....maybe even take a picture
Once you have the fan disassembled to the point that you can get to where the wire that was chewed is connected to the fan, you will disconnect the wires from the plugs,sockets,etc...take another picture before disassembly.
Take the old cord with you down to your local hardware store, loews, homedepot, ace hardware, etc.
Tell the person in the electrical dept what happened, and he will fix you up with a new set up.
Come home install the new cord and plug...keep away from dog...

I need a 3 speed switch for model: u2-1487.
For Patton
fan model U2-1487 120v 60Hz 1.5 amps. the 3-speed switch Patton does not carry replacement parts anymore. I suggest look some aftermark switch and check
your wiring and the diagram that come with the switch. You might have
the hot wire (power wire usually black in color) wired directly to
the motor. Normally the switch will have a common wired which should be the hot wire, then it should have a wire for each speed.
Double check your wiring and wiring diagram. I'm Sure It was just a small oversite. Personally, I suggest you evaluate the cost-benefit of changing the switch or replace the equipment.
Good luck.
I was trying to install a fan control switch on my
Thr issue you are having you need to look on the motor and see if there is a diagram but you have to use the grey and white for a capacitor because i have an older fan that has no capacitor. and use the red for high
Looking for rubber feet for the patton floor fan.
If you can not find the exact parts, you can pick up a generic rubber foot from the Home Depot or even at Radio Shack.
They will most likely have a self adhesive on them, but you may want to also add some electrical tape to keep them in place.
How does it come apart?
The wire cage around the fan is like a **** shell. There is a front piece and a back piece that make up the cage. Look for the screws that hold the legs on, one on each side and remove.
Once this is done you need to pull the two cage pieces apart to get at the fan.
Screw to leg has fallen
I have not been able to find a large picture of this fan, but I will tell you what I have run into in the past.
On some of the fans there are small clips around the grill where the front and back pieces come together. It would be a case of opening these clips and sliding either the front of back grill off. Reverse the process when putting it back together.
On others I have found small plastic wire ties holding the two grills together, one at the screw locations where the legs hook onto the fan. These need to be cut with scissors or wire cutters and replaced with new ones when putting the fan back together.
New wire ties can be purchased at Home Depot or Radio Shack.
Please let me know how you make out and I will keep looking into this.

Any idea where I can get replacement metal fan
I'm not all up on Patton Model#s, but this is an older unit, correct? You may try contacting Patton (Owned by Holmes now so you may have to go through them)
If they cannot help you, try www.dtvintagefans.org There's collectors there that may have parts fans that they may be willing to sell a blade.
Alternatively, you may try Grainger, as they sell an assortment of blades. You will need to match a blade to your motor though, which should be fairly easy as the Patton fans use a common McMillan motor which most attic fans also use.
Wiring on a 3 speed rotary switch for a fan (cord

Usually this means dirt/dust/debris has gotten into the bearings. Needs a lube job.
I have a Patton U2-1287 fan. The knob for the on/off-speed control switch is broken; I need to buy another knob.
To purchase a replacement knob for your Patton U2-1287 fan, you can try the following options:
- Manufacturer's website: Visit the official website of the manufacturer, Patton Products Company, and look for a "Replacement Parts" or "Accessories" section. They may offer replacement knobs or have a customer support contact you can reach out to for assistance.
- Online retailers: Check popular online retailers such as Amazon, eBay, or Walmart. Search for "Patton U2-1287 fan knob" or similar keywords to find compatible replacement knobs. Be sure to read the product descriptions and reviews to ensure it is the correct fit for your specific model.
- Local appliance repair shops: Visit local appliance repair shops or stores that specialize in HVAC or fan parts. They may carry replacement knobs or be able to order one for you.
- Contact customer support: Reach out to the manufacturer's customer support directly via phone or email. Explain the issue and provide them with the model number and any other relevant details. They may be able to assist you in finding a replacement knob or direct you to an authorized dealer.
When contacting suppliers or searching online, it's helpful to have the model number of your fan (Patton U2-1287) and any additional information about the knob size or design. This will ensure you find a compatible replacement that fits properly.
Alternatively, if you cannot find an exact replacement knob, you could consider using a universal fan knob that is compatible with your fan's control switch. Universal knobs are designed to fit a range of fan models and may offer a suitable solution.
