CAN THIS HEATER CAUSE AFIRE AND IS THIS HEATER ON
I do not know if this heater is on any product recall but we have used patton heaters for years and pretty much have had good luck with them. However there is a fire hazard present if you set or store combustibles to close to the front.Tip over switches don't always work and I would never recommend using a heater of this type in a unsupervised area.I hope this is of some help to you. Thank you and happy holidays.
Heater shows it has power
I go thru several of these a year, the fan motors for the most part go out on them or the safety for overheating. I find that at $19.00 it is easier to replace than repair. If you add up parts costs freight to get them to you and your time you go well over the cost of repair. If you wish to dabble there are two switches in mine, one is a tip switch usually on the bottom and a heat sensor to protect against over heating this will usually be at the top looks like a button with two wires one in one out. Both can be jumped out to see if they are bad can run this way as well but not recommended unless it is in close proximity to you, never let it run unattended.By the way this is not a fix but an easy way to trouble shoot only.
I have 2 of these
If it was banged in any way some thing got stuck to it need to inspecked it

This link should help.
It continually throws my house breaker
if it comes on and works for a while and then trips the breaker its pulling to many amps. try to put it somewhere where nothing else is plugged in and see what happens. Sometimes you can have to many things on one circuit.
Heating element
There should be a fuse located on the back towards the bottom. It should have a screw in cap holding fuse in plase.Remove fuse and see if you can tell if its blown. If your not sure you can try new fuse of right size and amp rating.Amp rating should be stamped on end or around base of fuse. If this helps thats great. If not and you think heating element is burned you probably better off to just get new one as the price of new element and possible other parts will cost you as much or more than buying new. Hope this helps. Thanks
Worked last night, just blowing cold air today on
There are a couple of things I would check. Some units like this have a seperate fuse for heating and fan. They should be located on back or lower portion on sides. Most of these have a black screw on cap. Unscrew cap to access fuse. Always remember to be safe and have heater unplugged before doing any checks or repairs. Most of the older units of this type use old style automotive fuses which are round with a glass center section. You can look at them and see if the wire or metal strip inside is seperated. If it is then fuse is bad and needs replaced with new fuse of same amp rating and size. The other thing is that the heating element is burned out. You can check this by removing front cover or grille and visually inspecting heating coils.Don't mean to sound negative but if it's much more than a fuse you're probably better off to just get a new one. Hope thishelps . Thanks
Well we have barely had it 6 months and it just
I just hope that it is still under warranty. If it is, don't
tinker on it, otherwise the warranty is voided. Call the
dealer about it, and let them service or replace it. Tell
them the heater no longer works.
Defective Patton PUH680
How did you pay for the heater? Cash, credit card, or check? What store did you buy it from?
If you paid by credit card, some stores can look the purchase up. Some stores will accept returns for an equal exchange based on lookup of the charge.
If by check, you can get a copy of the canceled check from your bank. Take the copy with the heater to the store that you bought it, and they will likely allow an exchange.
If you paid by cash, you can contact the manufacturer, and he will ask you for the date code or serial number of the unit (he will tell you where to look). You can then discuss with them how to proceed to have the unit repaired or replaced.
SMELLY HEATER
is this a realtively new heater or just come out of storage? Chances are, if it hasn't been run in a while that it is just burning off some of the dust on the heater coils. Or possibly some of the chemicals used during the assembly of the product is risidual on the coils. Let it run for a few hours while keeping a close eye on it. I'm sure the smell will go away eventually. Keep an eye on it because if I'm wrong it could pose a potential fire risk.
Have a patton space heater. Light is on when plugged in but will not start. Can you tell me how to fix?
If the light on your Patton space heater is on, but the heater will not start, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
- Check the power source: Make sure the heater is plugged into a working outlet and that the circuit breaker or fuse is not tripped.
- Check the thermostat: Make sure the thermostat is set to a temperature higher than the current room temperature. If the thermostat is set too low, the heater will not turn on.
- Check the safety features: Some space heaters have safety features, such as a tip-over switch or overheating protection, that will shut off the heater if it is not positioned properly or if it gets too hot. Check to make sure the heater is positioned correctly and not too close to anything that could cause it to overheat.
- Clean the heater: Over time, dust and debris can accumulate in the heater, which can cause it to malfunction. Unplug the heater and clean it thoroughly, making sure to remove any debris from the heating element.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, there may be a problem with the heater's internal components. In that case, it is best to contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician for further assistance.
