Kenwood 2 way radio

Advertising for various radios differs, and can offer some incredible ranges. The following is a good rule of thumb in the real world:Handheld radios generally will talk "radio-to-radio", "line-of-sight" up to 2 miles. Once you start putting obstacles in between the radios you will shorten your range. Mobile radios, such as those mounted in vehicles, will generally talk "radio-to-radio" 8-10 miles depending upon the obstacles and the terrain.Repeater Towers and/or Trunking: If your radio is programmed to match a local repeater or trunking system, your range will be determined by the footprint of that particular system. See your local dealer for details.Consider your radio can talk as far as it can "see". If you are on a mountain top, your radio will talk far into the valley, and seem to have incredible range. So conversely, if you in a city with many obstacles, you may have a very short range.Best regards.

Kenwood TS-430s FM 430 board keys up but no modulation

First, clean all the connectors associated with this board. Over time they can get corrosion built up on them and they stop conducting. Use De-OXIT or Isopropyl alcohol to clean them. You may have to clean the deviation control on the board or replace C* and C10. I doubt if the microphone amplifier, Q1, is bad but if you can check the voltages around it, that might give you a clue. This problem shouldn't be too hard to fix as the rest of the radio is working. Programming a TK-5320 using KPG-112DN V.2.20 keep getting "LOC" in display before the name of the channel.

Yes, radio. Check your cable. Is it OEM? Try plugging it into the radio before launching the software. Then try after launching the software. Is it a USB or Serial cable? If serial, the USB adapters often do not work. I have one brand of radio where I need to restart the computer each time I program so it will read the Serial to USB correctly. Even then, I may need to go into device manager and enable/disable it 2-5 times. I do not know if the software is the latest, but if a radio is programmed with the newest software, you cannot go back to an older version 90% of the time.

I kenwood TK-2000 radios. when I read the radio, all the frequencies listed are vhf frequencies.but when I program a vhf frequency it says it is out of band it can only accept 400 to 440 mhz.

Based on the information you provided, it seems like the Kenwood TK-2000 radios you have may have been programmed with the wrong band split. The TK-2000 is available in both VHF and UHF frequency ranges, and it's possible that the radios you have are actually UHF models, despite being listed as VHF frequencies when you read the radios. To check if your radios are UHF or VHF, look for a label on the back of the radio that specifies the frequency range. If it says UHF, then the radios can only accept frequencies in the 400-440 MHz range. If it says VHF, then the radios should be able to accept frequencies in the VHF frequency range. If you've confirmed that the radios are indeed VHF models, then it's possible that the band split settings may need to be adjusted in the programming software to match the specific VHF frequencies you're trying to program. I recommend checking the manual for your programming software to ensure that you have selected the correct band split settings before programming the radios. If you're still having issues, it may be helpful to contact Kenwood customer support for further assistance.

Any idea to why my Kenwood TK-2360 FM Transceiver fully charged has a loud audible noise when turned on accompanied with a flashing red/orange light.

There are a lot of programmable features on that radio. The radio may have a battery that is failing and that could emit a tone, it may have lost the programming that it was set to. Etc. The best bet would be to contact a dealer or service center.

I have a Kenwood Protalk LT radio. Can hear others speaking clearly but they can not hear me. When press PTT and speak, red light goes on but no one can hear me. I have reset it but no luck fixing

Try opening it up carefully and checking for lose connections, especially the microphone. On second thought most radio communication devices don't allow you to do that so it may be difficult. To test and see if it's the microphone and not the transmitter circuit listen to another radio while you press the button if you hear static or a small pop that means it should be an easy fix if you can get inside. Also what kind of things have you tried already?
