The power adapter has a fuse inside. If you have a voltmeter, see if there is any voltage present at the tip and outer barrel of the plug. If there is none the adapter is bad. If there IS voltage, then look for a fuse on the circuit board inside the keyboard.

You need an SD card that is 1GB or smaller.

You need an SD Card that is 1GB or smaller. Once you insert the card, it will ask you to format. The card can save 256 midi-files only. The SD Card can be used to save/load songs, midi-files to/from the limited 4K keyboard memory. If you have IDES driver & software, the software can load/save midi-files to/from the SD CARD to computer hard disk too.

Replace the batteries (at bottom) to see if it works. If it does get a new AC adapter.

May be cheaper to buy a new model. If you can do soldering, open up and replace the electrolytic capacitors that are bulging or burst.

Get a USB (printer) cable. Download PC driver from http://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=20 If you have a Mac, driver for this keyboard is available from 3rd party. It's called "CASIO USBMIDISRIVER for MAC OS-X".

If it is brand-new, then take it back, and exercise the "warranty" to get it fixed at NO CHARGE to you.

You might check and see if this unit has a battery backup inside the electronic head unit and the battery may be dying and need replaced . It may have this to retain memory of recent setting options!! I'm a drummer and i know i had to replace my battery once for loss of memory and deteriated sound !! Good Luck swampratt200
