Are the rollers worn out? If they have a slick appearance, that is your problem. Also examine the tray and see if it is lifting properly.

SOLUTION: open up printer using torx T10 bit. It is pretty tricky take off right side panel. Disconnect all cords, remove paper jam clean out panel in rear. Remove two silver colored screws behind this panel. Remove two black screws on rear of printer next to the hinges. This will allow the middle panel to swing down and be gently lifted back and away from the printer. You need to release the tab on the side panel underneath the open ink cartridge door. Use a putty knife or some other stiff thin metal object lift it gently and it will free the side panel. Disconnect the multi wire connector at rear of printer, then disconnect the three multconnector ribbons noting where they connect. You will replace them in the opposite order. The entire scanner can now be removed (also a little tricky). With the ink cartidge door open (I assume you can't close it yet), push the outermst piece or end of the hinges uptowards the scanner deck (This is hard - the part is stiff) while this tab is pushed in slide the scanner up off of the hinge. TIP: Stand the whole printer on its left side (the printer is now perpindicular to your work area) this will take the weight off of the hinges.
Now with the jammed hinges uncovered, you will find a screw under the front side of the lid hinge. The hinge is slotted so you can reach through it with your Torx bit. Remove the hinge (it now just lifts out) Pull the hinge pin out and take out the black piece of plastic. Do this for both hinges. Just get rid of the worn out plastic piece (it hardly looks worn, and you might as well take the springs out too. Put the hinge together without the spring and the plastic part.
Now reassemble the whole thing. Your printer should work fine, but you will need to prop the thing open to change cartridges in the future.

The print head prints two lines of text/image at one time. If there is a partial print of alternating lines, you probably have a partially clogged print head. Print a test page to see what you get, and perform head cleaning process if needed.

make sure there is paper in the printer and that it has no paper jams also make sure your printer is set to default.

1. Press the On button to turn the printer off.
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
4. Wait two minutes.
5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
6. Press the On button to turn the printer on.
7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.

If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved. If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.

Yes you will need a memory card because the memory on the HP is full. You can delete all the memory in the Hp but need to buy a program to do so. So in the long run it is cheaper to get a memory card for it and it will work just fine for you. Have a great day.

Here is a fix I found on the internet, can't specify as to it's reliability, cause I don't have one of those printers.Gently remove the side cover of the printer. Start by opening the top cover and inserting a small screwdriver in the small tab slots. Going around the edge of the side cover, gently pry it off, being careful not to break any of the plastic snap tabs. You'll have to pry the front piece under the nameplate, also. Once off, gently remove the two white ribbon connectors just below the top cover. Turn the unit back on. You will get an ink carriage jammed message. Turn the power off and reattach the two ribbon connectors. Turn the power back on and the ink system failure message should not reappear and the printer will go through its set up program and be functional again.
