ERIC SILVERBERG wants more answers to this question answering for only HDD lock not BIOS locks of any kind or windoz. if not you posted to wrong page, hyjacked. it is 6 years old now, so not in warranty. wdc hard disk drive, is now locked. forever. (by DESIGN !) there are only 2 choices. (ask to the person that set it? sure)

1. buy a new HDD
2. buy a new SSD

and installed a fresh new OS. some drives are bricked, others can be erased and reused, the WDC support and software to do that (APP) is here. https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/answer.aspx?ID=10408 if the drive is protected with WD Smartware . WD can not recover your PW or data same with bitlocker. the purpose of this HDD technology is to make it impossible to steal the hDD, go someplace else, then steal your data. it's the whole #1 point, if you don't believe facts, call WDC, and ask them. they have a huge web site, and you can bet dollars to donuts. asked there, a zillion times... endless. this and 1 answer, (boom too late) warning do not read posts 10 years old , that was then, and yours is NOW. For the keyboard I would recommend eBay. Filter the results for New only. As for how much it'd be worth; that's dependent on its specs. For example: HDD size, how much RAM, processor type and speed. Things like that.

Try removing the main battery and unplug the power, then hold the power on button down for 30 seconds, if this does not work, remove the cmos battery for 30 seconds to reset the bios

are you referring to the touch pad? or an actual external mouse ?

Camera failure very common with Aspire 1 due to the design of the casing chafing on the LCD cable. Unless you change the cable. Cheaper alternative is go get a USB camera and plug it in. Cheap and hassle free

If it's at bootup:

You need to temporarily remote the CMOS battery from the motherboard to reset the bootup password.

Hi Kevin...you can install a free software like cc cleaner and run to remove cookies and temp files on ur PC->perform a defrag of the Hard disk->you can increase virtual memory->you can disable some unwanted programs at startup->can do a registry cleanup if it works well and good if notmy email address is [email protected] please email me when ur free and ur convenient time so that i can take and work on ur PC and try to optimize ur PC performance..n it wud be for free.

you need a flash drive fat32 formatted,download the bios update from acer website.copy the flashit.exe & 3114.fd to flash driverename 3114fd to ZG5IA32.FD.insert ur flash drive to the right side usb port. turn on power while holding Fn and Esc key don not release the combination key until u count of 7 sec, when light is on push again the power button then release.it will blink in a minute and the light turn off, don't do anything until it restart. just relax it takes a minute.if you can't download the file e-mail me @ [email protected] luck guys! wait for 7 second to release

Open your netbook and remove the ribbon connecting the keyboard to the motherboard and the screen cable (long and black cable) and dry it out (DO NOT GET WATER ON THE MOTHERBOARD it will break COMPLETELY) YOU ARE very very lucky id didn't already and replace and tell me if that worked

Easiest way to activate the webcam I've found, is not to try hunting for the driver, etc... it's usually pre-installed for laptops or netbooks with built-in cameras, best way is to download applications like Skype with video chat, install the software, and then test using Skype. That usually works.

I had this problem on my Acer Aspire One 531 and eventually after trawling the net found the answer - well, it worked for me.

My Aspire was booting incredibly slowly, would take an age to respond for about 30 mins after booting. I found an article that said there was a fault with the SD card slot in that it detected the factory installed blanking card as a real one and spent ages trying to access it before eventually giving up, after which performance was fine. I thought it couldn't be that simple. It was!

I removed the small plastic blanking card from the slot, rebooted and the machine ran perfectly. I was stunned that it was such a strange fault with such a simple fix.
