Hello! You need to take out the memory card of the camera. there is a small switch on the memory card's side 'locked- unlocked' Switch it to 'unlocked'.

Press the MENU button. Use cursor-left/right to select Setup (wrench and hammer icon), use cursor-up/down to select [Date/Time], and press the FUNC/SET button. Use cursor-left/right to move between fields, cursor-up/down to change them. Press FUNC/SET when done.

restart your camera by taking out the battery or clear the lens or the screen by dry cloth...restarting the camera will definitely solve your problem

here If your driver cd has been installed and the camera shows up in the pc, and it doesnt complain about anything you should be able to view the images by-

1. goto desktop
2. Open my computer
3. now look around for the cameras storage memory, there should be a new drive there. If you now remove the cameras usb cable. and plug it back, keep the my computer open and watch witch drive disapears and comes back.
4. The one that disapeared and came back, is your cameras memory, open it and open the folders with in it to get to your pictures.
5. now that you have found the picture files, you can copy them to your pc, or print them, or send them to a online picture service to have them mail the pictures for you. This costs ofcourse......

You need to place the photos in the directory the camera uses. If you don't get it spot on, the camera won't know that the photos are there.

You'd better change a new memory card that doesn't have a problem to check whether it is matter of Canon PowerShot A480,or use another well camera to check if it is error of your memory card.

If you are not able to take as many photos as mentioned in the manual then it is possible that the battery does not retain the charge as after a flash the charge subsides to such a low level that the processor in the camera indicates.
Also is it possible that the flash is draining too much current on the battery and is a possible fault. Hence if you can select menu and switch off flash - to manual mode- and check if the fault occurs so as to confirm the working of the flash unit.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). If the same dots are on the pictures and LCD, then the only thing it can be is either a dirty lens which needs cleaning or dirt got inside the lens assembly which would require either compressed air to clean or professional service.

It's not a problem with the white balance. Is the picture completely white or just overexposed? If completely white, it has to be a problem with the imager (CCD) or the board itself. I have seen some of these with faulty imagers, but the problem is that Canon (at least in some European countries) won't supply these imagers. They replace the whole camera.

Hi there please follow the steps and let me know the result.
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged & clean the battery connector point in side the battery compartment.
2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.
3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only.
5. Now turn on camera( with out card ) and see ,if working then fix the memory card & again turn on the camera. If working then fine . Otherwise format the memory card and fix back in camera again & try. Make sure before format the memory card take a back up all photos in your computer then format. If no luck then reset or restore the camera setting by pressing Menu key for 2 sec .. in not done the press both Menu & self time key for 2 - 4 sec.

Fixing a Lens Error on a Digital Camera
This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error", or "lens error, restart camera". Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move.
Fix #1: Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in (preferably rechargeable NiMH 2500mah or better) and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
Fix #2: Remove the batteries, then remove the memory card. Then install new batteries, and turn on the camera. If you get an Error E30, it means you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the memory card and turn it on one last time.
Fix #3: Insert the cameras Audio/Video (AV) cable, and turn the camera on. Inserting this cable ensures that the camera's LCD screen remains off during the start process. Thus extra battery power is available to the camera's lens motor during startup. This extra power can be useful in overcoming grit or sand particals that may be jamming the lens. If the AV cable doesn't fix the lens error by itself, consider keeping this cable installed while trying fixes 4, 5, and 7 as a means to provide extra help to these fixes. But note that I DON'T recommend keeping the cable installed during Fix 6 as you may damage the AV port while tapping the camera. Reinsert the cable only AFTER tapping the camera.
Fix #4: Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.
Fix #5: Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in "no heat" setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).
Now we're entering into the realm of potentially damaging your camera in conducting the fix. There is definitely some risk here, so take care when conducting the following two fixes.
Fix #6: Repeatedly tap the padded/rubber usb cover on a hard surface with the intent of dislodging any particles that may be jamming the lens. Other variations include hitting a side of the camera against the palm of your hand. A lot of people have reported success with this method. HOWEVER, there is also some potential for damaging or dislodging internal components with this method, such as unseating ribbon cables, or cracking LCD screens.
Fix #7: Try forcing the lens. More people have reported success with this method than with any of the other methods. HOWEVER, there's obviously some potential for damaging your camera by using this method. Variations include gently pulling, rotating, and/or twisting the lens barrel while hitting the power button. Attempt to gently straighten or align the barrel if it's crooked or twisted. Another variation includes looking for uneven gaps around the lens barrel, and then pushing on the side of the lens barrel that has the largest gap (note pushing the lens barrel all the way in is NOT recommended as it may become stuck there). While doing any of the above, listen for a click that indicates that the lens barrel guide pins may have reseated in their guide slots. If you hear this click, immediately stop and try the camera.
