hello gig..... the stand is definitely removable. on the back of the tv look for holes that contain phillips head screws. usually there are between 2 and 4 screws deep in those holes. Use a #2 phillips head screw driver and insert it into one of the holes. turn the screw driver counter clockwise and the screw will come out. Joe

Hi, well the failure of remotes is very very common, often it is a simple thing, such as a broken battery connection, or the IR diode has a broken join, or there is moisture behind the keypad... all of these will stop the remote. It may pay to have a check over and see if there is anything obvious.. Also make sure the batteries are OK, I have had duds...
If you cannot get it working again, you have a couple of options, first is to contact the manufacturer and obtain a new original one,or obtain a "Universal remote" these units can control many many differing units by inputting a code for the desired one. If obtaining a UR make sure it specifically states that it will work with your exact make model set.

Soyo tv's use Samsung chips so you must test every Samsung code from the manual of your remote. If none of them work then your remote is incompatible to this tv, you will have to use another.
