There is suddenly no picture. Just a black screen

There are several bad capacitors in the signal board. I can not tell you off hand the values. There are about 12 or 15 bad caps. I think in the range of 10 or 16 volts at 10 Mfs, 25 volts at 33Mfs and 16 volts at 440Mfs. If you can manage your patience and pull the bad capacitors very carefully, it can repair this TV. You will have to purchase an ESR meter to locate the bad caps. The power supply would have two bad caps. It has been sometime since I have repaired this model. I do know for sure a good supply of capacitors in your possession will repair this unit. I must caution you...to unsolder and pull these capacitors out is a very delicate and dedicated procedure. You can not tear traces from this board or you face destruction. Use a 25 watt solder pen. Purchase one at a dedicated electronic shop. Do not buy the solder pen that has a screw near the tip. These are unregulated solder pens and will make soldering and unsoldering a difficult job. Be sure to purchase solder wick to remove solder from the components, and a tube of solder to replace capacitors. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

I have no picture but I have sound

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. This sounds like one or more capacitors have blown, probably in the power supply. It should be easily fixed by a TV repair shop.

Will not receive incoming cable signal

You didn't mention how you are getting your cable, but will touch on it briefly. Please clarify if you need more information.

Your cable comes in through the wall, and it should goto a converter box / receiver box. The output of this box then is connected to your TV via either HDMI, component video, audio visual connections (RCA), or perhaps the cable coax connector. Sometimes, the cable box will connect via a DVI port, but those are relatively uncommon. Almost *all* modern cable systems have gone to a digital format, which requires a converter box. There are very few, if any, cable standards that are still analog (which could be tuned by your tv at one time). If unsure, contact your cable company to find out exactly which you have, and if a converter box will be required.

You need to setup your tv to look at whatever input the cable box is using, or tell it to look for a signal on the cable coax connector. Make sure the cable box is on before you try to set it up, or you may waste your valuable time.

Polaroid 32 inch. When picture has lots of blue,

Here is my older post. It is very likely these capacitors are failing on your set. There are dozens of symptoms for the 2 caps going bad. John

Hello; This set uses a very poor design. They are stacking two 450 volt cap to get a 900 volt rating needed in this circuit. This practice was used decades ago, but only with VERY high quality caps that are closely matched ALONG with stabilization resistors to keep the voltage drop even between the 2 caps. Polaroid uses cheap unmatched caps and even WORSE no stabilization resistors. Shame on you Polariod. At least one cap is bad, but they MUST both be replaced with high quality MATCHED caps. There is an 80% chance that these are your problem, but with NO WARANTY. If you have no way of soldering and testing, send it to me with $38 to cover parts, testing caps and return shipping. You must call first 207 998 5687 est. No weekend hours, but OK 9-5 est. Good luck, John

Shut tv off at night . went to turn on in the a.m.

There are a couple of capacitors on the board that will go bad 10 uF 450 volt electrolytic capacitors
they will be raised on the top of the capacitor or maybe discolored.
I have had another brand of tv that did this but just had the red power light flashing and I held down the power button with each other button for a few seconds. example hold power and volume down then go to power and volume up ect. even try menu and the other buttons. then unplug tv for a few seconds and plug back in and power up. it might be worth a try.

You should be able to plug the base for the headphones into the Red and White AUDIO OUT jacks in the back of your tv.

Then make sure the base unit's power adapter is plugged in and it's turned on.

Then lift the headphones out of the cradle on the base and make sure they are turned on and the volume is turned up.

Good luck and post back if this helps or if you're still having trouble.

The Polaroid tv TDA-03211C is turned on it only

CERTIFIED TV EXPERT HERE, follow this information I provided 3 long solutions to this issue/s
Solution 1
Before we start taking things apart, lets try your simple remove power plug routine and power system back up. Also, please try your unit on a few different channels to see if your problem continues on each channel. Your Main Board, Power Board, T-Control Board are suspected problems at this time. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, the unit should power down by itself after you have powered it on. If it does not, then do not be concerned. Let me know if the problem continues. The firstlink below will bring you directly to the troubleshooting guide if you need to continue forward with the same error. Lets focus on the external portion of the TV set first (95 percent of all TV problems are related to things EXTERNAL To the tv itself) Check the physical CONNECTION of all cables by removing each wire bare or RCA and reinstalling it (Each power cable as well), once you have removed one cable, check it for fraying, and if it is already bare, splice a new fresh connection for it. 5. Check to make sure there are NO OTHER uneeded radios, system nearby. these systems, when powered on, will cause electromagnetic interference and prevent more than just severe tv interference SURGE PROTECTOR Surge protectors account for more than 75 percent of electric faults to stereo equipment. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. Now, lets try the TV set without it connected to any cable services, vcr, dvd, stereo system, etc. Please respond if we have found a solution.

When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me

The tv smells like a burning wire

Can you describe where the odor is coming from. Is it coming out from the side panels on the tv set itself, or perhaps the plug, on end of the main power wire. Check around the electrical outlet. Make sure nothing else is plugged into the same outlet. It sounds as if some of the electrical components on the circuit board are burnt or burning out. Tv may have experienced a power surge, etc. Check also if the power plug is heating up. Be careful and smell around top side vents on tv. Be sure and unplug the set before leaving it unattended if you cannot locate the source of the "burning wire smell."

Have a polaroid LCD tv that while watching I saw

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$???????

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

Isnt there built in speakers? or does it have to

Hello; This model does have built in speakers just below the screen. If you don't have sound, make sure the sound is not muted and that SAP has not been selected in the audio mode on the remote control. Read/ download the owner's manual for best info. If still no audio, you have a failed circuit board. John
