should be under warranty but the remote itself can be tested by any shop--also some digital cameras when remote pointed at them in a dim room will react on their display screen with a flash when remote pointed at camera and buttons pressed on the remote.

Yes, in these sets almost all the audio circuit is on the main signal board which with this model is not likely to be cheap if it can be found.You have tried to unplug set, a box, or a audio/video receiver and also nothing on any input--leaves unless something odd wrong--audio circuit problem.

Double check your soldering and make sure caps went in correctly + and - wise.If you found bad caps and replaced them your problem is likely on that board and another part or parts there are also bad.

Unless you know what you are doing you are playing with fire, Unplug the set and have someone qualified take a look at it. Smoke and a burning smell and you still have it powered up?

The red led may just be either showing shutdown or may be normal.Someone to start would have to check all voltages on power supply board inside the set (follow power cord to it)If no picture or brightness if even one voltage (voltages usually marked at plug/s on power board) is missing or very low your problem is on that line.

HelloCheck its backlight inverter baord. If found faulty, repalce it. There is no repair to this board.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. You kneed to replace the DVD Deck. Very easy, just a couple of screws on the side and pull the deck out. When you pull the deck out, if there is a cable connected to it, you will need to take the back off and disconnect the cable. Some models have it and some don't.
