Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Hannspree 37inch tv model jt0237u1000g

Hi Eddie,
Turning on and off of the unit is an indication of out-of-regulation condition on the power supply board. It was caused by leaky/dried electrolytic capacitor in that board. It will dropped the normal output voltage and will trigger the symptoms.
Leaky electrolytic capacitor has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify. See sample picture of a faulty capacitor with dome at the top.
jdvillanueva_69.jpg

Dried electrolytic capacitor has no physical indication of fault, you must have a capacitor checker to determine its condition and pinpoint the faulty one.
Another option is to replace the entire power supply board if you can't troubleshoot it yourself. This is more convenient for you because no soldering is required. My supplier hasn't a stock yet of your board, try to obtain it to your local service centers.

Also, check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the back cover will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

That sounds like a codec issue. I would try to find out what video format you tv set supports. Then convert you films to suit.

Hannspee 37 in lcd tv xv-s

There is a hidden menu. Press the "MENU" key and then press "991". You now see a new menu labeled "Factory". One of the settings is: EEPROM Init. Selecting this supposedly resets your television and erases almost everything you've set... so don't do this casually. And don't press anything until it is done. I'm actually afraid to try this since my set works. If this fries your set, you're on your own.

It might not be the same issue, but we had a blue square in the upper left hand corner of our hanspree. To fix it, either press the button headed 'pip' or go into menu, down to calibration and then uncheck the box titled 'pip' there. I hope this sorta yours as it did ours.

Dont know how to channel search with remote

Do these steps using the remote: Power TV on. Press Input button and < or > to be sure you're looking at TV and not HDMI1 or something. Press Menu button and > to the 4th (I think) menu, where top two items are: Tuner Mode and Auto Scan. You ought to be able to start an auto scan with those. It takes a while, maybe ten minutes to finish, so be patient.

Powers off after green light comes on

-ALL lcd tvs, except for latest units with LED backlighting ,use from two to six or more CCFL lamps-any of which can fail-causing darker bands on sceen since failed CCFL CANNOT illuminate screen area-IF none of CCFLs illuminate OR if reddish tinge on startup, one or more ccfls are failing-OR INVERTOR section failing-where INVERTOR board gets juice from power supply and ups voltage to >1500 v AC-just like flourescent tube-but ccfls "might" be integrated into lcd panel itself-to make "slimmer" -either problem is EXPENSIVE FIX-so newer LED backlit units better since leds are more reliable, last longer AND reduce power consumed

When switching the TV on from the mains, the tv

Hi dek088,
This kind of symptoms was caused by leaky/dried electrolytic capacitor in the power supply board. In the first stage of fault, warm-up will make itself stable and will work fine after a few attempt of powering on and off the power supply, but time will come that the unit will not even power up like what you've encountered right now.
Leaky electrolytic capacitor has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify.
Dried electrolytic capacitor has no physical indication of fault, you must have a capacitor checker to determine its condition. If not available you may replaced all of them in the power supply board. It will not cost you much because this is one of the cheapest parts in that board(less than a dollar up to $4 at the most per piece).
Let me know if you're handy with electronics and I will guide you fixing it yourself.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

This is not really a problem but is the serial

The USB ports for TVs are usually for accessing drives to play photos or videos. Unfortunately the PC will not communicate directly with the TV via USB. A device in between connecting to the TV via USB and using the other TV ports makes the PC communicate with the TV.

Where can i get replacement remote control

Buying a replacement remote control is pretty simple, you can either visit sites such as www.remotecontrolscenter.com and find the replacement remote control you are seeking on their website, or you can use google to search for the model number of either the remote control or the electronic device (ex TV, DVD Player, Blu Ray Player) model number.

I just changed the main power board, and

You need to try the following:
Check the power supply caps and voltages. Reseat the ribbon cables between the T-CON board (Timing Control board) which drive the LCD panel rows and columns, it get the LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signals) form the main board which has the VIDEO processor to drive the T-CON board.
When T-CON is dead you will see glowing screen without video, or when it has timing problem you will see lines, rolling, multiple pictures, pixelating.
The main board supplys switched 12vdc to power the T-CON board.
You need to do more checking.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps. Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please post back what you find.
