Turn tv on. green light solid display, no picture or sound

The flashing green light is likely indicative of a self-test failure, indicating the TV has detected some sort of internal fault. With no picture or sound, one strong suspect is the power supply. Flat-panel TV's have an internal DC power supply that converts the inbound AC current, and when these fail, or are unable to supply a minimum level of power to the set, it can behave as you describe, providing only enough power for the green light to illuminate.

I have a LG 50PG60UD - AA television that appears to be overheating. TV starts up ok and keeps working without any major issues. A couple of times recently I have unintentionally switched it off and

This isn't an easy fix, it sounds like your power supply board is bad or there is a main board problem. I'd suspect a faulty power supply capacitor or heatsink missing, but you have to bring it in to a tech to know for sure.

Hi i have a 50pg60ud-aa

Hi 00coronagsxr,
Find leaky/dried capacitor in the power supply section, this will affect the regulation of the supply going to t-con board and the main board causing this symptoms. Sometimes it has bulged at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester the determine its condition. If you don't have a tester you may replaced the electrolytic capacitor in the output section of the power supply. This are rated 10v, 25v, 35v working capacity. This cost $4 at the most each. Ensure right polarity while installing the new one.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

My LG 50PG60UD plasma television

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. This is a common problem, unfortunately could have many possibilities. It could be an issue with power supply board or any of the other board viz Y or Z sus board or buffer/driver board.

Yes, it is repairable and on most occasions, worth repair. Always remember a thumb rule - If the TV is more than 3 years old ( in case of plasma ) and the cost of repair is more than half the cost of the TV, then it is wise to switch the TV unless repair is always worth. This TV is one of the best reviewed and even though discontinued, i think would be worth repair.

Note - As i am not there to diagnose your TV, i could only share the information based on my experience. So, you need to take a wise decision taking all the factors into consideration.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a LG dvd player 5083 inserted the disc the correct way into the draw but the machine does not play the disc a very slight humming noise is heard then it spits the drawer back out

Clean the Lens: Use a DVD cleaning disc to clean the lens. If the problem persists, consider professional cleaning. Test Other Discs: Try playing different DVDs to see if the issue occurs consistently. If it's specific to one disc, that disc might be the problem. Check for Updates: Make sure your DVD player's firmware is updated. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for firmware updates. Try a Different TV: Connect your DVD player to a different TV to see if the noise disappears. If it does, the issue might be with your TV. The hum is simply the player trying to read the disc. It can't so, it spits it out. Remember that prolonged use of a malfunctioning DVD player could potentially cause damage. If the problem persists, consider seeking professional repair or replacement
