Sanyo DP50747 50 in. Plasma TV - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I have a 55 inch vizio flat screen. it turns on but the screen fades away.
//If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Use a universal remote. Should be able to access the menu that way. The logitech harmony remotes have a huge number of ir codes for every remote. There are codes in their database that don't exist on the original remotes.
So my tv has worked fine for about a year or so
It most certainly a power supply issue. If the board is separate you might find one reasonable, but some are all-in-one boards and only a technician who knows how to repair the electronics will help you. most of these are bad capcitors
Basicly dead set
There are too many possible explanations for this.
One thing we can do for you is test the main board and see if it works fine; if not we may sometimes be able to repair it.
Sometimes we can not (and you do not pay us, of course).
The main board *can* definitely give you the symptom you describe; it can fail in different ways and some of them would manifest just like that.
Unfortunately other boards could cause just the exact same behavior.
if I were you I'd first rule out the power supply. This is usually easy as you can test it independently from the rest...but trying a second one is pretty darn close too (of course there's always a chance it can be bad as well, just very very tiny).
Then I'd go and test the main board.

Dp50747 has vertical 2 inch wide black row with a green line up the center, which card might be at fault? thanks
If you have JUST two green lines then your choices are between the buffer boards, YSUS board (all boards on the LEFT side of the TV when looking from the back) and , less likely, the main or plasma controller board. I'd really focus on the first two.
if you have two lines ON TOP of otherwise normal picture then you most likely have a bad panel, specifically the address register ICs embedded in the display's fabric underneath the display ... there's no solution to that I'm afraid.

Screen is in undefined mode
Something like that might happen if you've selected a "zoomed in" setting and it only applies to HD channels versus classic 4:3 channels and you're going through different formats.
I do not know the settings on this particular TV by heart, but I've early HDTV releases struggle with that.
The other alternative is a bad main board.
I'd go to settings first and I'd also check if the problem is not showing only on certain channels (mostly HD versus classic format).
