Samsung PS50Q97HDX 50 in. Plasma TV Questions & Answers
Samsung ps-50c91hd no picture only sound. have
Hi,
First let me say sorry I don't have a quick fix for this problem.
The
problem you are describing is a very common one in PLASMA sets like
yours. The power supply circuit has failed and will require BOARD
replacement in order to get the set working again. This repair should be
done by a qualified technician, these sets can be dangerous to someone
who does not know where not to touch, also it is very easy to cause more
bad than good if you don't know what you are doing. Also the use of a
VOLTAGE METER very well will be required. I cannot stress enough, you
must be able to VOLTAGE METER very well or can cause many problems.
If
you have equipment and would like to complete this repair yourself
please let me know and I will give you instructions on how to complete
this repair. Parts can cost you anywhere from 50-150 bucks depending on
where you buy them at. But remember I have seen quite a few people
destroy perfectly good sets by not knowing what they are doing so just
take that as a caution.
A good repair shop will run you somewhere between $200-$300 to repair this for you.
If you wanted to repair, revert and i would be able to follow up from there. Be advised this repair is more than swapping parts. You need to have multimeter to measure the voltage and make an appropriate decision what's wrong with the set.
Thanks and Regards

WHEN YOU SWITCH THE TV ON, IT DARK AND SLOWLY
Sustain board should be suspected. If you wish to get more details, check this site. It has screen-shots to defective plasma screen. Compare it. It is not possible to add these images here.

Samsung tv sound but no picture
Based on the class action suit against Samsung, it's likely the capacitors buldging. My TV purchased in late 2007 was a "victim" and the tv did the turn on/off with no pic or sound. There is a limited number of tv models and now a March 2013 time limit. To see if your TV is one that qualifies for a free inhome replacement, look at these links:www.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/10/how-samsung-spent-300-fixing-my-out-of-warranty-tvs-click-of-death/ (shows pictures, model numbers, etc.)The Samsung repair was quick, but I had to get the TV off the wall mount and ready for the repair. They don't take it down or do any of the cable/line connections. If you are unsure if your model is one that qualifies, call the special 800 number given in the class action ruling.

Samsung 42q96hd shuts down starts again
Look or have someone look at the power supply first in this set for this problem, it could be elsewhere but the supply needs to be checked out first.

Loud buzzing sound,
There are a couple of possibilities. There are some styles of TV's which have lightbulbs which project light from the back of the TV. These are big TV's but are not Plasma's.
The bulb will be behind a small square or rectangle door and can be held shut with a screw or several screws. You can get the parts Online. You do not touch the bulb without gloves or a rag. A fingerprint will make a hot spot and destroy a new bulb. There is no adjustment with a new bulb, so they are plug and play. The buzzing is the bulb arcing. The second possibility is a meltdown in a power transformer or capacitor. The video and audio are 2 separate systems to a certain point and that is why one can work and the other can be bad.I would do a Web search using your Make and Model and look for bulbs and Consumer complaints.
