It sounds as if the color controller/circuit board is becoming sensitive and may soon disconnect. Don't be surprised if someday soon, the picture goes very dark or vanishes completely. Have a technician check it out with his test equipment to locate the exact problem.
only about two possible reasons bad solder connections or the picture tube is not getting the 6.3 volts for the filaments in the neck of the picture tube.If set is opened carefully and turned on look to see if 3 faint filaments are lit or not. If not that is your problem.
Sansui tv's have no provision for powering extra speakers. It depends on the model if it can be hooked up to stereo or surround system. I hope this helps you.
Looks to me like a horizontal inter grated circuit would be the blame on why this is happening.
If it where the fly back transformer you would not have nothing (most cases)
What I suggest is to have a shop look at it for you and give you a estimate if it comes over $90 bucks then its not worth the repair/replacment. These tv's can be bought with digital tuners for $120.00 so I would not lay more then $90 at the most in this unit.

I know the line is horizontal but the problem is in the "Vertical" circuit of the set that deflects the picture from the middle of the screen to the top and bottom.
Only a few easy possible reasons for this.
1) set has developed bad solder connections in the vertical output circuit--it happens as a normal thing and most sets like this the picture will have opened and closed before going to just a line.
2) a part in the vertical output circuit is bad---most common is a IC chip for output. Not real hard to get at or replace and is inexpensive.
If it is as stated here a 27 inch set it may not be economical to fix and cheaper to just consider replacing it.
I just looked at a TV last night for this. I don't know what you've tried yet, but I was getting that message until I went into the menu and selected the automatic channel scan. I forget what it was actually called, but you'll find it. After that, 19 digital stations came in beautifully with a cheap set of rabbit ears. (The scan will also find analog channels, which you can delete later on.) Good Luck.
A unit like this will usuallly have a startup routine like a computer except for it tales like a minute or so to complete. I think that you have a voltage that is not checking properly or a voltage that is loading down to nothing. Check ebay for replacement boards or parts for the unit. A board swap is fairly simple and can be done by anyone. There are high voltages in the unit though so take proper precations. Good luck. Dan
