Hi, it sounds as though a componant is faulty as it will not reset. When the surge protector will not reset, its telling the unit it has a short in it. You would need to take it in to a appliance repair to get an estimate, as you know they can be high. Get one and compare it to the price of a new one, and you will know which way to go. I hope I have been of some help to you. It may be a minor repair, but its the labor costs that add up.

Take care.
Keeps filling with water and shutting off.
Air conditioners remove moisture from the air like a dehumidifier does. With portable units it is captured in a removable container and when full will turn the unit off so it won't overflow onto the floor. There should be option for a hose to attach to the bucket which could be run to a drain so you won't have to keep emptying the bucket. Just remember the a/c unit needs to be higher than the drain.
Do i have to drain out the water is this not a
You have to connect the drain hose to any outdoor location . If it is a plate type condensor it is self evaporating. Or if the drain pan is on top of the compressor then you have to drain it out now and then.

If it is out of warranty, and you can get hold of the parts, then as long as you feel confident to change the parts yourself, go ahead. It will only be a case of removing the case and maybe some covers inside to get at the broken components. There is NO rocket science used in the design or building of these things.
All you will need is a small to medium sized phillips head screwdriver and maybe a 7 or 8mm spanner. You may need to cut a couple of cable ties. Make sure you note how the components fit and also the route of the cables as they will need to be routed the same way when you replace the case.
You need to discover what caused the fan to break in the first place. In my experience this cause is normally someone poking something into the grill...
Dont have book...dont know how to clean unit
The manual doesnt give much insight. Vacuum/wash(no dishwasher) the filter(remove by pushing down and away from the unit. Its right on top on the back. As alway unplug before. Wipe the outside. thats it in the manual.
The only thing I need is a online manual
Don't bother. Couldn't find it either. If you have a Stop error try draining the water from the pan. its not sealed so be careful if you pick it up. I had that problem Amana was NO help. Started right back up!
