Take the radios back to a very basic setting with all special features turned off. If the radios have a Qt filter check to see it is turned off, and set your Code to zero (off) on both units. Also, check to see your battery is good in both units.

Need to connect radios

Here is a link to the user guide for the T6500 http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/T6500_usermanual.pdf You will need to set the frequency and interference eliminator code to match one another on both radios. It would be adviseable to keep any special features such as call alert and Qt filter turned off (zero) until you are confident in adding them into the mix. Instructions can be found on pages 15-18. Can i catch outdoor frequencies like polce etc?

It is possible if you have a radio programmed to police or emergency frequencies, or better yet, a scanner. Your local electonrics store should be able to help you with this.Best regards.

Can the motorola t6500 talk

It can talk with any radio that operates on the same frequency as it. These are what are commonly reffered to as FRS (family radio service) radios. The name brand does not matter, but the frequency does.

We are an event management company... Please tell

The TalkAbout radios are license-free and operate on FRS/GMRS frequencies intended for family use. It is possible using them in a business situation may be outside of the license-free perimeters. You would need to check further on this through a licensing company or the FCC (www.fcc.gov)

Here's a link to another vendor we have had success with http://www.wirelesspro.com/ They show the T6500 on their website for sale.

Here is a link to the user guide, reference page 22 for instructions on turning iVOX and VOX on or off: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf (Double check you do not have the lock symbol showing while trying to change programming.)

Also, another phenomenon which can occur is when you unplug a headset or audio device while the radio is still turned on. This can leave the radio partially in VOX mode. You might try plugging in the device with the radio turned off. Then turn the radio on, use the device in VOX mode. Then shut the radio off and remove the device. See if it clears the radio's sense of having a headset plugged in.

A damaged jack can also cause the same problem.

To turn the tlk confirmation tone off... it does

Just read your message a second time. Is the sound following the release of the PTT button? If so, it is indeed the Roger Beep (aka talk confirmation tone). If holding in the minus button while turning the radio on does not turn it off, there might be something wrong with the radio, such as a one of the other buttons being slighty stuck. Or you have your keypad locked. To unlock the keypad hold the menu button in for 3 seconds until the lock icon disappears.

Another thing which will make a noise during or after transmitting is the low battery beep. You might check your batteries. Old, bad, poorly charged or defective batteries can cause this.

fyi: Some users might think the Call Tones are the Roger Beep.

Lastly, there is a PTT Timeout beep which will occur if you hold the PTT in for more than 60 sec while talking.

Hope one of these items is of help to you.

I have held the - sign and done this several time

The T6500 is slightly different than many of the other TalkAbout radios where the + (plus) button turns the Roger Beep (aka talk confirmation tone) on or off.

T6500 will turn ON the Roger Beep when turning the radio on with the +, but to shut it OFF you must hold in the - (minus) button while turning the radio on.

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf You will find the instructions in detail on page 25.

Best regards.
