Hold in the PTT button while turning on the radio. It will announce the code setting. Using the PTT button you can press it until you reach the setting you want. Then press the Monitor button to lock it in. Next it will announce either 2-5 or 1-2-5. This is your setting for wide or narrowband. You should be set to 1-2-5 narrowband. Press Monitor to lock in your setting. The frequencies of this radio are not programmable, they are factory preset.

Cant hear other to quiet

Check your programming, the frequency and code must match one another on both radios. Also, remove any special feature programming until you have established good communications. Check your mic hole to see that it isn't covered or plugged with debris. And finally, check your batteries. Trade batteries between the two radios and see if the problem is solved. Best regards

T5603 and t5500 compatibility

No. The T5603 is a version of the TalkAbout made for use outside the USA, and has preprogrammed frequencies (possibly PMR frequencies for the UK) which differ from the FRS/GMRS frequencies in the T5500 made for use in the USA. Best regards.

DOES NOT HOLD CHARGE

Hi,Let me star by saying that: YOU ARE NOT ALONE, with this problem.Even though they have the Motorola brand, which belongs to a reputable company, these little toys are mass produced under license in China, so you get what you pay for, i.e,. cheap & nasty. These things eat batteries and there's not much that can be done, however, if you wish to continue playing with these TOYS, then purchase rechargeable batteries with the charger. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money on these.Best to buy a proper 5 watt CB radio cheaply on ebay, and you'll have hours of fun.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I have answered many similar queries regarding this problem with these units.Best regards,Peter.

We just got talkabout earpieces

Here are some tips and thoughts:

1) Be certain the radio is turned off when you attach the device. Having a radio turned on while plugging in an earpiece or headset can cause some bizarre symptoms.
2) Try the same earpiece on another radio and see if you have the same problem. Could be a compatibility problem with the earpiece, or could be a programmable setting on your radio is interferring.
3) Be certain you plug the device all the way in, to the click position. You should feel a slight click when it seats into place.
4) Try taking your radios back to a very basic operation with all the special features turned off (or set to zero). Then try your earpieces again. Pay special attention to VOX settings and call tones.

Best regards.

How to up of power

Many radios can gain transmission strength by making a satellite dish shape out of foil and placing it on the antenna. You can also try cutting a small hole into the bottom of a metal strainer or bowl and sticking that on the antenna.
