If that sticker has disappeard, an aluminum piece is stamped in the side of the cilinder. The numbervstamped in that round pieceis the serial number. Hello, is it the external shift handle you want to replace? Then you'll have to remove the engine block from the driveshaft housing. To do so: Drain the engine oil. Disconnect the throttle cable from the carburettor. Disconnect the start-in-gear cable from the recoil starter housing. Disconnect the fuel lead at the fuel connector Disconnect the choke puller at the carburettor. Disconnect the white and black wire from the stop button at the engine-block and engine wires. Remove 6 bolts holding the engine-block to the driveshaft housing. Lift the engineblock. The shift lever is fixed with a M6 bolt in the front-top of the driveshaft housing. You'll need a new gasket, Part Num 803508-9 Good luck!

shift lever has a bolt in it and shift rod you need to remove powerhead complete to access also remove gearbox !

Remove lower unit ,remove impeller inspect replace if damaged,these impellers are normally changed at yearly service interval!check replace gaskets if necessary

Then two Deep Cycle Gel Batteries, one for the marine electronics, fish finder etc, and another that powers the front bow mounted Trolling motor. You will find them in the deck lockers. Open them, release any tie downs, undo the cables and lift them out for Winter storage. I keep mine in my garage and I put them on a battery minder for 24 hours once a month. I would clean the fuel filters and empty the water retainer filter then do some testing.

When revved up it should be generating about 13.2, to 13.8 volts and supplying to the battery. The videos below should help. Although the first one is an inboard, the theory is the same. On an outboard, you can disconnect the linkages, verify that the engine is in neutral, then adjust the linkages to fit. Then adjust the slack with the same amount of turns on the adjusters. Lock the settings and that's it.
