The red light is a power protection circuit designed to shut the amplifier down due to an overload or wiring problem. If the amp was playing then shut off, my guess is a problem with the speakers or the speaker wiring. Some amplifiers are only stable to a certain load. For example, most car audio speakers are 4 ohms which is the resistance placed upon your amplifier to produce a certain volume of sound. If you bridge two 4 ohm speakers together in parallel, you cut the resistance in half, thus increasing the amount of power (and volume) to your speakers. This also creates more heat and could, in effect, shut your amplifier down. I would find out how the speakers are wired to determine the resistance of the load your amplifier is pushing. Also check the grounding.

What is the electrical system in the different car like?You may need to get a secondary battery for that amp.Also ceck your in line fuse,it may need to be larger.Sounds to me like you either do not have enough power,or a ground is not connected.

More likely to have shorted out MOSFET ( for the DC to boosted DC power supplies) and Output transistors (for the audio outputs) which are mounted on the heatsinks, you should see a bunch of 3-leg devices attached to the heatsink, very time comsuming to repair.

300 watts RMS is a little on the low side, but it'll power the sub. The sub is rated for 500 watts RMS.

If you haven't already purchased the amp, I'd recommend considering one with a little more output, perhaps in the range of 400-600 watts RMS.

sorry to say that you proably fried the amp. there is a way to check, find the air vent on the amp, and smell it, if you smell a burnt smell, its fried. you might get lucky and the amp might be under warrenty

It is too old for online manuals. Any colour light would show it has power and usually a red, green or blue LED. yes a higher voltage rating is OK lower voltage rating is not good.

I was having a similar issue. I checked every wire from the battery to stereo to amp, checked the ground, pulled the stereo to double check the wiring was all correct. Everything seemed good so I thought it had to be my battery not putting out enough power. Tested it and it was good. What it turned out to be was the connection from the power cord to the battery. It had a tiny bit of built up corrosion that was making the amp go into protect mode. Cleaned it up and hooked it back up and has been golden since.
