The traffic receiver is in the car charger cable. The charger should have a red light on if it is getting power. If the light is on and the unit is not charging and you have no traffic, the charger cable is bad. If the light is off, then either the fuse did not fix the problem, blew again, or is somehow not sitting properly in the charger. Another thing you can check is by using the unit in another vehicle. If it works fine there, then the charger is not making good contact with your vehicle outlet for some reason. You will probably have to buy a new traffic receiver charging cable.

I would be tempted to see if the parts themselves are available--any chance something got spilled on the buttons ??

Hello,Doing a soft reset on the nuvi will usually get the nuvi up and running.If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.Also running the Garmin WebUpdater and reloading the latest update will resolve most issues.Download and Install WebUpdater.

Make sure that you are not using usb hub's. Plug in the unit directly to the computer USB port. Try to use different USB port. If same thing happened, this could also be a USB cable issue. Try different USB cable.

I will suggest you reset your GPS before trying to update it, to reset your gps, follow this steps, turn off your device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press Yes to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.
Once the GPS unit is reset, remember to place the device outside where there is a clear unobstructed view of the sky for 15 to 30 minutes in order for it to requires fix to GPS satellites. After this, you ca now try again.

Sometimes this happens because the mini USB plug of the charger is not fully pushed into the back of the satnav. It feels like it is but it's not. Pushing it in further may solve the problem.

Once you get to Garmins web page look at the top of the page to the right where it says My Garmin. Click on that and then set up a user name and password. After that you can register your new Garmin and download any updates that are available. In order to download the updates you will need a USB cable (his will hook up your Garmin to your computer) if your unit did not come with one you can buy it from the store you bought your unit from, but in all honesty you will get it cheaper on ebay.

You can charge it through your computer. If you connect your satnav to your computer with the mini USB lead it will charge. A full charge takes about 8 hours.

You can charge through your car cigarette lighter socket either. This takes around 4 hours. The first charge should be continuous until it's charged so you might be better using your computer. After that if you plug it into the car it might be enough to keep it topped up depending on how much you use it.

NOTE: Don't start the car with the satnav plugged in. Unplug it first and when you've started the car plug it in then as there may be a surge of power when the car starts which has destroyed many satnavs.

If what you say is right it would need at least 10 hours charge with at least 6 hours before you would even be able to see & do anything with it.

Charging with the phone charger will not really work, as the current supplied to a phone is way lower than a GPS. Even if it did charge it would take like 24 hours...

You will have to either get a wall charger or a car charger that you are sure is working and charging and leave the GPS on charge at least for overnite.. It should be Ok next day. If not, then you have a fault with the unit, for whatever reasons.

If you have noticed this in your area and your 12v cigarette lighter plug in powered and charging the unit then unit may need a firmware update, do this using garmins WebUpdater Software. Also traffic is not covered in all areas so if your travelling you may be in an ara where this feature is not supported.

Your GPS came with a USB cord that you use to connect the unit to your computer. Once you connect it, go to the Garmin website at:

You will see a link to click on to register the unit. You will first have to register yourself though. Once you do that, the webpage should automatically sense which GPS you have and what the serial number is for the unit. If it does not sense it for you instructions will come up that will guide you to download some software that will help the system to read your GPS. Once that is accomplished the site will also help you update your map if you have a free update coming to you.

your nuvi will receive its traffic updates through an FM channel that requires no subscriptions. The receiver is located in the 12v power cable so aslong as you are powered you should receive updates.
