The RCA L46FHD37 can only play MP3 audio files and display JPEG image files from a USB drive. See page 41 of the manual to see the details on using a USB flash drive with this TV. Media streaming boxes, the Stick Computers (like the Intel Compute stick), some tablets/phones and most laptops would be able to connect to the L46FHD37 and display your video files. I'm not joking when I give you this "fix". UNPLUG your TV from the wall and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. (Don't JUST turn it off, UNPLUG it) I've fixed several TV sets with no sound this way. This allows the microprocessor to do a "reset" and sometimes works.

For ANY technical help (to begin with), it's necessary to know the Model Number that's printed on the back of the TV. The date of manufacture is also sometimes helpful (which is printed near the Model Number). Let's start there if you're willing and capable of some technical adventure.

If you notice this in all the inputs, there is a problem in the TV. Check the input cables also for loose contacts. Look for jammed buttons on remote. If you notice problems still, it is better to refer it to a qualified service technician.

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.

Try to check the power supply output side where anything could came into contact with positive and negative line for which when you press play button then it shuts down.

RCA video cables handle analog signals. HDMI cables carry digital video signals. You need a converter. If you are using a component video converter, check if you swapped two of the three RCA video cables. (There are some A/V projectors that can do the translation of RCA and HDMI internally. Most modern tv remotes are not normally designed to be repaired. You will possibly need to replace it. there are plenty of cheaper after market version that will do the job just as well. Your other option, and yes I know this is a silly answer, when you want to mute the TV is to simply press the volume down button to zero then turn it back up when you want sound.
