I have a 32" CRT Sylvania Tv that won't turn

HelloIf the TV doesn't turn ON ata all, it is surely due to some fault with its power supply regulator section. You haven't given any otehr details of your tV, than it is only a 32 inch CRT Sylvanial Tv. No model number; so I only can provide you a solution in general.Check the ON-OFF switch for its contact. Normally, TVs uses DPST type switches [Double Pole Single Throw]. If any one contact amoung them have any problem with its internal contacts, the set won't switch ON. If the switch is OK, come towards the power regulator section circuit board, and check whether the fuse has blown out or not. If it has blown out, replace it with same type and ampere rating. Never use higher ampere rating than specified. The ampere rating will be maiked either on the rims of the fuse, or at the printed circuit board, just under the fuse. After repalcing the fuse, switch ON the TV and see whether it works well or the replaced fuse blows up as soon as you switch ON the set. If the repalced switch burns out as soon as you switch ON the set, the power supply section has damaged [shorted components in it]; and should be replaced.Normally for LCD TVs it will be good to replace the power supply as card basis. This power regulator card can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town, orby the authorised service center for Sylvania at your town. If you may have given its model number, I could send you the picture of the power card of your TV. OK.

Just doesnt work any more? no power what so ever

The problem of your tv is the power supply. First unplug your tv then open the back cover of your tv then try too locate the fuse, in order to locate the fuse try to follow the ac cord it will direct you to the main power supply the ac cord has to lines connected to the main pcb, try to trace each line then you will see the fuse. but there are different types of fuse, the common fuse is the glass type and the ceramic type. If your fuse is the glass type try to observe the filament inside or a small wire if totally burned do not just replace it, this mean that your unit has a shorted part common parts are the regulator and the bridge type rectifier. But if your fuse is only broken burn mark try to replace it with the exact value or rating. And if the fuse is ceramic type you should be needing a multi meter tester try to test it using a continuity in the tester. if you are not familiar with electronic parts try to consult a repairman to lessen the stress thank you and best regards.

My tv went black and I turned it off and back on

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitors pictures: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Parts: www.interliquidparts.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps.Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series

How can i used my hdtv to a monitor

to use your HD tv as a monitor you will have to connect it to your computer with the VGA or the DVI connector. The back of your TV should have one of these. It looks like a rectangular connector with holes in it. This will connect up to the graphics card of your computer using the appropriate cable.

If your TV does not have this output you can go out and buy a VGA to S-video or VGA to aux/video cable.

Hope this helps

When you turn it on it stays on just for a few

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$???????

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

No, because screen casting wasn't invented and it isn't a Smart television. Time for a new one.
