Amana PTC153B50AM Split System Air Conditioner - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Ptac153b50am not blowing hot air
Have an identical unit. Replaced the heater core which has built in limit switches. Didn't fix. Finally fixed it by replacing the heater relays (small black boxes soldered into the circuit board). Can purchase at Digi-Key online for $4 apiece or buy a new circuit board for about $100.

Model PTC153B50AM no longer heats
The heater relays (little black boxes marked "heater 1" and "heater 2" on the circuit board are known for going out. $100 will buy you a new circuit board, or you can order the relays from Digi-Key for $4 apiece if you are willing to solder them in yourself.

I'm not getting heat from my unit..
the compressor is controled seperately from the fan, this is done with the thermostat, try turning the thermostat on then of or untill you hear the "click" sound from the thermostat. If the compressor is still not turning on this may be more than you can fix if your not familiar with electrical hvac troubleshoting... more than lilkely the thermostat may be bad, or your compressors starting components are failing...if the compressor is comming on when the unit is turned on you could have a freon leak causing no heat. hope this may help some there is just too much to write on the causes this will give you a start though!!

I'm looking for a new power cord. Any Idea's
As long as you have the part number, if you have a D&L parts company listed
nearby, they can probably get it for you. They sell over the counter and even
UPS parts. They have a website as well. (This is where I get my PTAC
control boards). Hope this helps.

No heat on amana ptc 153b50am
Toget proper heat, keep your temp setting at 30+ degree and also mode in "heat"position. If still no heat, check your heating sensor for closed circuit by anOHMs metre. It it's with RV, check power to RV.If it's with heatingelement check power to element. If power is there but still no heat meanselement defective. Replace new heating element. Thanks.

No display on control board. Looks like no power?
Hello tkulsicki. Begin by checking to be sure that their is power at the outlet where you are plugging in the appliance. If you do not have a tester, the least expensive way is to go to the hardware store and buy a light bulb socket with pigtail and a 15 watt bulb. Use this to see if the outlet works. That is the first step. After that, assumming that the outlet is live, your circuit board is the next suspect item.
If there is no power at the outlet but the circuit breaker appears to be on, then most likely the circuit breaker itself is bad and needs to be replaced. Joe

I have a amama a/c ptc153b50am works well but
Check filter, and clean , and outside cond. unit most probably needs cleaned. Wash it out with a water hose, not high pressure, and it should work better.

I'm not getting any code after installing a control board for my Amana ptac?
Does the power light come on?
If yes, then you can do a reset as below:
There is a master switch on the bottom left of the control board. Slide that to 'off' position.
Then press the hot and cold switch/key together and then slide the master switch back to 'on'.
Please put your response/observation here if that does not work or there is power light as asked on top.
Thanks

i'm not familiar with your specific unit but ..sounds like an electronic gas value has gone bad or has a bad connection when that happened to my friend it wasn't that expensive to have it fixed .. BYW it acted like this for a while then stopped working completely
