Cannon EOS 50D Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Where on my menu do I change the dpi settings on my Canon EOS50D?
You don't.
DPI (dots per inch) is an output specification used when printing a photo, not when taking one.
Any photo editing program will let you change it, but why bother? Instead, simply specify the size of the print you want and the program will compute the required DPI.
Powers off wont come back on
Remove the two batteries and wait 20 minutes before reinstalling and powering on again.
Check battery voltages with a voltimeter. BP-511 should be at least 7.4V (you will probably measuere 7.8V).
CR2016 Battery voltage should be at least 3V.
How to clean the focusing lens?
First question: where is the dust?
If the dust ist outside the cam: no problem. Try a soft brush and remove bigger particles, then take a thin microfibre cloth and clean the dust film on the lens. Be careful - every sand particle scratches the coating, so use the brush!
If the dust is internal it's more complicated.
May be the dust is on the focussing screen. If you dismout the lens, there is a litte lock on the top inside the cam. Do not open without having special tool. Each fingerprint on this little plastic plane is not removable. It's an extreme sensitive fresnell lens.
Don't try to clean that with cloth or brush. Only airflow is allowed.
If this dosn't help - use the Canon service or replace the focussing screen with a new one (as Example Canon EF-D).
I just purchased the Tamron 18-270 lens. When I
Lens is to long for the internal flash. Try an external one, it's position is more away from the center of the camera. Normally this should'nt happen, may be that the internal reflector of your flash is disorted.
Try to get a cheap 430 EX, more power, better light and with an radio controller usable as an unleashed flash. You'll get better pictures with flash a little bit far away from the camera angle.
How to unlock the protected picture
Simply select the same pictures, one at a time and lick on protection function or select all protected pictures and hit on the protection function. Tip. Its like you select a function one and exit, it remains selected so the function works, if you select a second time, the function is un-checked.
Reset factory setting
Although Nikon cameras can be set back to the factory settings in several steps, I can't find anything in the Canon manuals, that says how to reset the camera or to put it back in the factory settings.
Perhaps you did change the firmware once. Most of the time there is a descriptions, how to do that and what to do if things go wrong. This could be something to reset the camera.
Camera settings to shoot the moon
The best way is to set your camera to manual exposure and ignore the camera's light meter. The light meter will try to make the entire scene a middle gray, which will result in a gray sky with a blown-out moon. There's an old rule-of-thumb called the "Sunny-16 Rule." This says that the proper exposure for a picture under a bright sun is f/16 at a shutter speed of 1/ISO seconds. So if you're shooting a daylight scene at ISO 200 then the proper exposure would be f/16 at 1/200 seconds or equivalent (such as f/11 at 1/400).Why is this relevant? The moon is simply a large rock essentially at the same distance from the sun as any other landscape you've photographed. So start with f/16 at 1/ISO. Take a look at the result on the back of the camera. The sky will be completely black, but so what? It's the moon you want. Zoom in on it and see whether it looks the way you want it to. Adjust the exposure if necessary. Don't let it blow out to complete white.
Problem with Tamron 18-270mm VC Lens
Hi there,
Do note that all lenses have a minimum focusing distance. The way you describe it is it seems that you are taking close-up shots (also called macro) of small items like flowers or insects.
For some long lenses, the minimum focus distance is as far as 1m or more. Check your lens documentation to find out what this is for your lens.
My recommendation for you if you still want to use your current lens for macro photography is to get "extension tubes". There are a number of brands but any brand will do (e.g. Triplus). Just make sure to mention that you will use it on a Nikon mount to make sure that you get one that will fit. Better yet, bring your setup to the cam vendor when you buy the tubes. These tubes are just extension rings without any glass and will allow you to take close up pics. Good luck
After I bought a new laptop with windows7, I am
hiyou have to load the drive file in your new lap top. or you just can use an external memory card reader which i recommend more for the sake of your camera. the camera's usb port are not that strong. if you just plan to download picture file. Please use external one. It cost less than $10 or free sometime in fry's electronic.
