it will run slow for 40 mins at a slow speed, after 15 mins of running fast, the batteries get too hot

I posted a similar issue about the same scooter. If you do replace the batteries and still experience the same issue, check the wiring for loose wires and possibly replace the fuse. Note the charger doesn't turn itself off. It will only signal batteries are charged. You can overcharge these batteries by leaving them on the charger for too long. Suggested by retailer is two hours maximum. Any case, Jackson Mack is correct on all counts there. If the light is green on the charger, and the scooter still doesn't go, there might be some other issue besides the batteries themselves like loose wiring, fuse switch, etc.

I posted a simliar question. I ended up taking my scooter to a battery store that is licensed to work on razor scooters. They ulitmately concluded the wires to the popup fuse itself were loose. They replaced the popup fuse as well just incase. I have now been using the scooter without the fuse popping every 50-100 feet.

Question edited for clarity. Hello again Cindy, I gave you all the information on this a few days back. You need a competently inclined person with a multimeter. The circuit is simple. You have two 12 volts batteries in series which makes 24 volts. You have a hand controller which is a variable potentiometer like a volume control, which feeds voltage to the motors. The controller module tells you the battery voltage level and probably has a couple of relays. Check the battery wiring again, you should have a wire coming in to the plus on battery 1 and the negative on battery 1 should go to the plus on battery 2. The negative wire from battery 2 completes the circuit out. Do you know your charger works? That can be checked with a meter as well. Get out your multimeter and check the TOTAL voltage plus on battery 1 to the negative on battery 2. You should have 24 volts, 2 x 12 volt batteries in series. Take them both off and charge each one on a car charger set at 2 amps for about 4 hours each battery. Clean all the battery connectors with a wire brush and also the connectors. Smear them with Vaseline. Also make sure you have the batteries wired up correctly. so what had been hapening is that it could die depending if it was the battery that could aftfect with this. 24 volt battery, and can be ridden for up to 45 minutes after battery charging. The charge time recommended for this Razor electric scooter is about 10-12 hours after each use.
