Maglite 2aa back cap won't come off
SOUNDS LIKE IT IS CORRODED. PUT A FEW DROPS OF RAPID TAP TAPPING FLUID OR A FEW DROPS OF THIN MACHINE OIL AROUND THE CAP. LET IT SIT FOR A FEW DAYS AND TRY IT AGAIN.
My mag lite led xl100 will not turn on, have fresh
take the bottom piece off, remove the last battery and put a coating of petroleum jelly on the threads of the tube. Then take the bottom piece and run it all the way in and back off and back in 2 or 3 times. Then put a little more petroleum jelly on the threads and put the battery back in and the bottom piece. This should do it.
I have a 3AA LED
well, I have a 3 cell mini maglite AA with a corroded battery stuck up next to the LED. I have searched but not found a way to remove the LED to push out the battery with a dowel. The best solution I read about was to drill a hole in the battery and insert a large screw and pull it all out. (My Maglite is from 2009 or 2010, but I think they made this model in 2011, 2012 and 2013- this is for SEO!)
Is there a rear cap on a mini maglite. I am
Yes there is a cap. I had the same problem most likely the battery inside has corroded and leaked fusing the cap shut, contact MagLite at
www.maglite.com if there were either Duracell, Eveready or Ray-O-Vac batteries in there they will replace it for free under warranty.
MY maglite 2AA starts blinking
Unscrew the top head of the flashlight and check the contact points next to the bulb. if all else fails buy another one and take that one back and tell them it's defective.
How do you change the bulb in a mini maglite?
Carefully.....
Check in the base of the torch and you will see the spare bulb. you need to pull the spring out to get at it.
Next unscrew the top off the torch to expose the bulb.
The bulb is easily removed by gently pulling straight out. Replace the new bulb in the same way, lining the two pins up with the holes (doesn't matter which way round) and wipe the bulb clean of any finger grease etc.
Screw the top back on and replace the spring in the base before screwing the base back on..
Replacement bulbs, and all other parts for that matter, are easily sourced at any good outdoor store that stocks MAG.
Hope this helps..
Minimag LED shuts off
Hi,
First question is what type of batteries have you been using.. A fault was found by Petzl a last year that identified a problem with using certain rechargeable batteries or lithium batteries in LED lights. The problem was that the batteries have a higher output than normal batteries and the heat created was damaging the LED's, shortening their life and in a couple of cases causing burning. Petzl have fixed the problem in their models and sent out warnings to outdoor stores to warn of the problem but I don't think that has spread too far across the industry..
Hope this helps..
Repair site for 5 cell maglite
It would be best if you visit the official of Maglite. It has all the required information which will solve your queries. The site has all the categories like spare parts etc.
Maglite 3-d batteries will not unscrew battery access cap. even used rubber for grip and use of channel lock pliers. all aluminum model.what else can I do to remove cap to access bat.
I'm gonna catch it for this but this is how I did it. Corroded batteries in the cylinder will eat and seize the aluminum threads on the end cap and it's pretty much toast after that.
What I did was drill, yes drill a 0.125" (1/8") hole exactly .25" (1/4") above the seam between the end cap and the tube .0125" (1/8") into the tube. No more than that or you will jeopardize the integrity of the waterproof factor.
Drop one drop of a quality penetrating oil, or even diesel fuel, into the hole every hour while randomly tapping the tube with a metal object to create a vibration to help the penetrating oil travel throughout the threads and dislodge the corrosive hold on your end cap.
It might take a couple of days to loosen it up and try it with your channel-locks and a lined vice or strong wife. Just plan on gaining 1/32" movement and go back and forth until it gives up the grip. That process might take another day too. Keep adding the drop of penetrating oil along with the tapping religiously.
It WILL work provided your patience holds out. Don't force it... well, not too much anyway. You can actually save it this way.
