I'm not familiar with your machine, BUT... that description of symptom sounds suspiciously like a bad/poor electrical connection. The problem could be in many places:

• plug
• cord
• switch
• brushes
• internal electrical wiring

The "solution" to this problem is for someone who knows what s/he is doing, to troubleshoot the defective machine, determine the defect, and properly repair or replace the defective part.

Your blades are stuck together.
Had the same problem: when I turn on the trimmer, the motor would hum but the blades won't move.
What I did:
1. Sprayed a ton of wd40 between the blades
2. Took a screwdriver and kinda wedged it between the blades to get them unstuck. Also removed some guck between the blades.
And it worked!

The only thing that i can think of is that somwhere along the length of the cable it has either atiny nick or it has been pulled so that when you hold it in a certain way it works . It is most likly near the tool end rather than the plug end.Only way to find it if it is is trial and error turn machien on and bend cable till it cuts out

Do not try and replace the blade.
They are not ment to be replaced let alone even resharped
If it can not cut any more time to buy a new model

Check the power wires that connect to the motor. My 18 inch B&D hedge trimmers both had loose wires at the motor that had to be re-soldered. You will need to open the trimmer casing to get to the loose wires, if that is the problem.
