Describe your panasonic microwave oven

If indeed you have an extended warranty that covers this situation, you go to the outfit that sold you the warranty. Could have been the store where you bought the unit. Or you could check out the unit on ebay and hope that parts are available for it inexpensively.

Panasonic microwave oven cuts on for two seconds

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/safety.txt http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/disassembly.txt http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/doorsw.txt Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle. That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed. Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these. You can find an authorized Panasonic servicer here. H98 shows on display and

This error can be due to a failure in the output.Make sure that the program controller is working if not check power - step down supply, the pads are responding- if not faulty pads- or the door switches, if the switch contact are not good then it will not trigger the processor to switch on the waveguides. If the lights or fan work without any display or action of program being triggered to start then it can be a possible fault on the main board or the processor. Sometimes insect secretion can short the board and display panel and so the processor can work in such an erratic manner. If so clean, solder and reset the board.

If there is no heating please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is faulty, the temperature cut off is faulty or the main capacitor is short. It is also quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron. So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off. Check the wave guide covers, if food had depositedthen it must be checked or replaced.

See link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/1146/how-to-replace-a-microwave-guide-cover.html

Now keeping clear of the microwave, switch on, use a cup of water inside to test. If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

Turntable will not turn.

1) a very likely thing is that fluids have gone down the stem of the drive and it has now seized the motor.
2) the most usual things are a fault in the bushes etc. This site would be a good place to be looking for advice in that respect. http://www.partselect.com/microwave+carousel-wont-turn+repair.htm

From your description it does indicate a magnetron problem, you would be further ahead replacing the microwave oven when you consider the expense of the repair involved.

Time set does not complete

You didn't mention your brand or model number, but I'll assume it's a Panasonic since you posted this under a Panasonic category.

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://207.234.249.73/mwd/safety.txt , http://207.234.249.73/mwd/disassembly.txt and http://207.234.249.73/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

If it stops after 7 seconds, it has a problem with the inverter.

If it stops at 16 seconds and is a sensor model, it probably has a defective humidity sensor.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter, controller, magnetron, or a bad connection from one or the other.

Display codes H95, H97, H98 or H99 mean that there's a problem with your inverter, magnetron, or digital programming circuit.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

The turntable keeps rotating when the dooe is open - Panasonic T994SFR

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

We have critical safety & disassembly info (including a how-to video) at our site, linked here.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

Microwave

Mst likely a blown fuse. You''ll need to unplug the unit, remove the outside cover and follow the line cord and you should find the fuse.

Replace it with the EXACT same value that was labeled on the original fuse. You'll probably be able to find a replacement at any Radio Shack store or hardware store.

Replace the cover and plug the unit back in. Hopefully nothing was damaged and the unit will play again.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!
