Hitachi NR90GC 3 1/2" Gas Powered Clipped Head Framing Nailer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Hi, had the same problem. After market micro switch replacement for Hitachi NR 90GC from RS Components Stock number 682-1888 MPN; D2HWC203MR.Note; this requires soldering in with heatshrink and cutting flyleads to correct length. Part of the alignment issue can be the handle screws working loose over time with use. Don't force anything back when assembling and use a little grease on contact parts.

Maybe there can be a problem with a rip in the cilinder its a very thin cilinder and its neccesary to replace with all the parts on it because of the extreme heat build up. cilinder assy 42 41A possible necessary, but first inspect the cilinder carefully on a rift. some other rings or parts broken or worn. Could be bad gas canister or needs cleaning. How many boxes of nails You shot thru that tool?

There's a tiny set screw holding it on.

If you mean the plastic top for the gas cylinder you should get 1 with every box of nails containing cylinders purchased.

Trigger may be dirty, as an electrical switch the contacts can be intermittent. Also check to see if the safety plunger is set to correct depth and moving freely. Dirt can build up here......

If the hammer isn't returning, that is usually a sign of needing oil. Also, new guns that aren't broken in yet can do that as well, but oil usually helps them too.

Did it get dropped? The lower safety might be bent. If not, when`s the last time it was cleaned and lubed.

Start with the basics:
First check that the butane (or whatever gas is used) canister is full. If empty, put in a new one.

Second check to make sure your battery is fully charged to be able to fire the spark to work the nail gun. If not get the battery charged and/or replaced as needed.

Third make sure all of the safeties are working properly and that you have them engaged to the piece of wood you are nailing when you try the trigger.

If beyond that it does not work it could be a bad trigger, a bad safety switch, or even a bad connection from the battery to the device.

i have two hitachi guns and had a problem with both. they worked fine then stopped working after about a year. i got a new trigger wiring from www.powertoolspares.com for about £30 and fitted it myself and their both going great. must be a problem with micro switches as theres two on the wiring loom. one guns a nr90gc and the others the newer nr90gc2 but most parts are the same in both guns.

Hi .I had the same problem with my gun,have you tried taking the fan housing off and cleaning the sparking point then oil and reassemble this seemed to wok on mine

Have you disconnected it from the air source and deep cleaned the nail gun? Sometimes even a tiny bit of dirt can block the rails the rod runs in. Once cleaned add a small amount of oil to the rod runners.

Test the volts and amps of the battery after charging, then try to shoot nails then test again after the blinking orange light.
