Yes,this is a common "mis fire" by Pasilode. I own the 16p Framer and the Angle nailer and I never get it from the Framer but I do get it seldom from Trim Gun,nothing you can do ,its just a misfire.

The smoking is normal for a few times after cleaning ,but you might have put to much oil drops in chamber and piston chamber is getting a "vapor lock". Try recleaning with degreaser. Also have you forgotten to set the depth gauge at front of nose.

Bad Fuel cell!!! New cyliders now have expire date on bottom of cannister. If old will not fire properly. Put new fuel cell in should be fine.

Please make sure use by date is current on bottom of fuel cell. If no date buy new fuel cells with useby date. Fuel has lost its ignition flash point. please reply.

I use a company called BrikGard because they use 100% recycled plastic scaffold brick guards. I like to be as environmentally friendly as possible without compromising quality or increasing the purchase cost too much. What width staples go in this gun ?

I have a box of T50 staples here labeled 5/16 , 8mm, but they are too narrow when dropped in to the channel in the stapler.
