If it is like mine, the CR2032 battery in the base station only lasts about 6 months, whereas the one in the outdoor unit lasts over a year. Try this though. Remove the batteries from both units. Replace the battery in the indoor unit and then in the outdoor unit. It should re-register it.

Mine did the same thing. To fix it I extended the tape all the way out. As I retracted the tape it started working. Try it and let me know if this worked for you.
