Sounds like you need to replace the carb reed. you will know by checking if there is air blowing out of the carb when you crank it over. There should be nothing coming back out. if this is not the case you need to replace the piston rings.

I would suggest you do it yourself. Stop by a truck shop and get one of the truck brake shoes that has been dis-guarded an cut the material off the shoe. You can shape it to the clutch with a sanding disc or mini grinder. Talk to your auto parts supplier about hi temperature epoxy to glue the material to the clutch

a lot of guys are having issues with these machines. Most I believe are due to the carb settings. Turn the set screw all the way in and back it out 1 1/4 turns. Try that. if you need more you do it in 1/4 turn increments

Where do the two wires coming fom the magneto go
One is ground the other goes to the kill switch which is ultimately a ground too. It will have power on it when cranking but when you switch it to shut down it grounds it so the coil can't build voltage.

chances are the carb is not set properly. turn the screw on the carb all the way in then back it out 1 1/4 turns. as a trick you can spray WD40 in the carb to start it too. if you can get Either, that works best. you may need to adjust the screw to get it to run at peak performance. adjust it in 1/4 turn increments.

what you do to find it is remove the spark plug and put your finger over the hole. slowly turn the engine over until you feel the air blowing past your finger. Then look in the hole, you will see the piston coming to top dead center.
