Uniden DCT646-2 Cordless Phone - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
No dial tone
try pulling the batteries out for 24 hours and then putting them back in. It should reset all the software and it should sync back up.
Uniden 5.8ghz master to sync a Uniden 6.0 slave
No. Your base works on the 5.8GHz band, while your DECT 6.0 handset works on the 1.9GHz band using a completely different protocol. The two are completely different technologies. It would be like trying to read a videotape using a DVD player.
Why can't anyone hear me talk on the other end?
Hello,
The reason, no one can hear you on the other end is simply because there is a problem with the mouth piece of your phone.
It must have fallen or hit a hard object so the mouth piece is faulty.
You can use an external earpiece for the time being before you get the mouth piece replaced.
Replacing the mouth piece, you need to get a compatible replacement mouthpiece then unscrew the phone, try to get to the mouth piece and disconnect it from the phone and replace it with the new one you get for it.
Take care and good luck
The phones have caller id and it works except not
You'll need to call your phone company. (Qwest, BellSouth, SBC, it depends on where you live)
Call Waiting ID (or CID-on-Call-Waiting) is a separate feature, possibly with an extra monthly charge, but possibly it just needs a free activation
Can't get if off MUTE
Check your owner's manual to see if it tells you how to cancel the MUTE function. Look in the troubleshooting section as well.
Phone continues to display
I have found this is cause by one of two problems:
1) the transfer button has been hit and it is waiting for anther unit to pick up.
2) (and most likely the problem) the battery is low on charge.
with case number 2 if your battery is at the end of it's life it will only keep a charge for a short time. it might even say it has a full charge but it does not. I have tested this out by switching the battery and then finding that the handset works fine. I hope this helps you.
I need to know how to check my answering machine
Get a ethernet usb connector and a mobile broadband dongle, use the dongle in your laptop when you are away and use the usb ethernet connector on the phone base, it should have a port somewhere.
Uniden phone
If this is a standard home phone, try another handset or handset cord. It it's wireless, it's the handset.
My voice is not heard on my Phone
Any kind of intermittent transmission problem, or solid transmission problems you mention are directly related to your phone. I'm not sure what kind of phone you have. If this is a typical home phone, it would either be the handset or the handset cord. If this is wireless, its the entire handset.
In one house works but in other dont
depends on what kind of phone it is. Most phones at offices belong to a Telephone System and will only work on that system, and never work at your home. It sounds like you took your office phone home to try it there. Since it doesn't work, you should take it back to the office.
Cannot dial "3" on a Nortel CICS with 6.1 software
sounds like a programming error in the pbx software. I'd start with the dial plan and see if someone goofed with the number 3. It may just be corrupt. Happens on Nortel's all the time. They have to delete and rebuild the software regularly.

If you have a phone that works off a broadband modem, that is a VoIP phone. That will not work with a home phone line. I'm assuming Verizon is your local Telephone carrier that provides your local dial tone.
The broadband modem would have the phone number of whatever VoIP phone service you have.
Static electricity
I had the same problem when I answered my cordless phone static charge went thru me and into my phone and I had now display, so i changed the batteries in the handset and it worked. So I hope this works for you.
