Roundup "" Weed & Grass Killer Questions & Answers
Roundup was spilled in a
The active ingredient in Roundup is Glyphosate and is fairly harmless to humans. I would suggest dilution with water and use an absorbent material such as baking powder or cat litter to soak up the material and sweep up then vacuum the remaining material.
Can I use diluted Roundup in evergreen carpet?
Hiya while I am not sure of what you mean exactly as an evergreen carpet I do know that if you want a plant or tree to survive don't use round up near it. Roundup is an extremely strong effective herbicide which will kill any living plant (more precisely the leaves) it touches. It also takes very little to kill a plant or tree.
Having said all that. I have had an issue with Lilly of the valley taking over as our property was vacant for 20 years the plants went unchecked all that time. I have tried just about everything else nothing even slowed them down. Of course they are a shade plant and growing under all of my trees that lined the property and are well over 100 years old.
- I got a large pop bottle and punctured 2 holes in the lid and added the Roundup mix into the bottle.
- I collected several sheets of plastic and newspaper. It is my understanding as long as the chemical doesn't touch the other plants or roots they should be ok.
- What you want to do is to apply the round up to the leaves ( no need to soak everything down) Just a few good drops to the leaves of the target plants should do the trick.
- Use the plastic or paper to protect the other plants you want to keep. Wait a week to ten days and you should see them begin to die. Protect all plants from accidental contact. since accidents occur what I did was immediately break or cut the infected leaf then flush the plant really well with water. This worked like a charm for me.
I can honestly say I am finally winning the battle. This year I only had about 2% of the offending plants appear. I am hoping none show up next year but if one or two do survive they wont the next year.
I hope this helps if you have any further questions please feel free to ask. Happy gardening
What is a homemade substitute for RoundUp?
You can try white vinegar with at least 5% acetic acid mixed with 1 tablespoon of dish washing liquid and table salt. Do not add water. Mix and use a spray bottle to disperse. I've used this method to kill weeds between concrete. I've never applied it to my lawn as it will kill off the grass as well. The acid and salt will draw out the moisture from the plant and the dish washing liquid will keep the solution on the leaves longer. Good luck.
Hi
I have a orange orchard and would like to kill
If you want to be completely sure that you kill everything then use 4 lits of roundup 360 per ha be careful not to spray even the woody areas on the tree as they can take the glyphosate can be absorbed through the bark and kill the tree. In terms of timing then the weeds should be actively growing i.e. after a rain but don't spray on a wet leaf.
How do you use roundup
Hello, I am a grower and licensed pesticides applicator (40 yrs exp).
Roundup lost the trade mark years ago,"glyphosphate" which is now marketed (cheaper) under many other names,
Will kill a live tree if sprayed on the leaves! Also will damage young trees if you just get over spray on the trunk while spraying weeds.
Also, kills grass as well as broadleaved plants.
To kill a tree you would need to spray the leaves, then wait at least a month before cutting the tree down. I have successfully killed a few stumps by spraying the live suckers.
Be especially careful of spray drift as the finer the droplets are the more effective the chemical is. Read the label!
Can roundup be put on wet soil?
Hi,
Yes, the soil can be wet but the leaves of the vegetaion should be dry and there should be no rain for an hour after the application...
The roundup is actually absorbed through the leaves....and then transfered to the root system that way,
That is why the soil condition does not matter...
