Hi I have a challenger

The motor bearing is making the squealing noise. It can be replaced without buying a new motor. Most electrical repair places can do it. It's probably leaking because of the play in the shaft because of the worn bearing. See if it still leaks when the bearing is replaced.

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Something is causing the pump motor to overheat and shut off to avoid permanent failure.

The motor is likely failing. It may be a small part such as the capacitor or the starting switch, but could also be more severe such as the winding itself. You will also want to examine the shaft to see if it is damaged, bent, or the bearings failing or seized. If you are not familiar with testing these parts your best bet would be a local electric motor repair shop to see if the motor can be repaired or if it would need to be replaced. *All of this assumes this is an older/exisintg installation that has worked properly in the past and is just now showing signs of failure. If this is a new install look at your line voltage versus the voltage the motor is set to accept. If feeding 115 to a motor wired to be on 230 you will also get the situation you describe.

I need an electric pump to pump water from the

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Go to a local home center, hardware or pump store (landscape or pond supplies) and get a self-priming pump that is rated for the delivery you need and the system head that will be present in your installation. Add a semi-rigid flexible suction line with a foot valve and protective screen at the end and a manifold to the discharge that includes a spigot to hook a hose to and you're all set. It will probably run a few hundred dollars if electric driven. If you need a gas driven unit it will be a bit more.

Why do front bearings go out on Challenger pool

A leaking pump seal will let water migrate into the bearing which displaces lubricant and leads to bearing failure.

Onga water pump for our bore. propeller on motor

This is probally your start capicator on your motor. It stores extra power to start the motor and when the motor starts an internal switch lets it run on regular current. This is a cilinder ether on top of the motor or in the back of the motor. It's about the size of a"D" cell battery or a little bigger. with the power off you just pull the wires and put them back on the same place on the new one. Get the numbers off the old one and any pool shop or motor shop should be able to help you get one.good luck.

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Yes, it is a rather common motor available thru any local pool store and also local electric motor repair shops, whose prices are likely a little lower. A common part number for it is USQ1152 from A.O. Smith. Depending on where you shop, it may have a different number but will otherwise fit without any trouble.

Just bought a used hayward filter, about 4 years old need diagram.

Line from skimmer connects to front of pump, top of pump connects to inlet of filter and outlet of filter goes to pool returns. Inlet and outlet of filter should be marked on filter and most Hayward filters that use backwash valves have valves that come pre plumbed to fit filters. Hope that helps, with pictures or models of filter and backwash valves that's about all I can tell you. God luck

Our pentair challenger pump isnt holding its prime

This could be many things, first Check your lid "O" ring if it is cracked or streched it will need to be replaced. If it is dirty clean it and the pump lid and pot rim with some soapy water and an old tooth brush. Although everyone is told to lube their "O" ring on the pump on a regular basis, but no one tells them to lube it then wipe it down. You don't want excess lube on it just enough to keep the rubber soft and a little slick. Other wise it will collect dirt and won't seal. Of course if you haven't been lubeing the "O" ring that could be the problem also. Other than that the problem will be a bad seal or the pump needs to be replumbed.

I installed a 2 hp high head pump on a waterfall

make sure your wireing is up to the job and your back presure at the pump discharge is within limits. both of these should be in your pump book that comes with your pump. If you don't have one you should be able to look it up on-line or order one from Pentair.

Our 1.5 HP pentair challenger pump isn't holding its prime

Usually, if a pump will not hold its prime, there is an air leak somewhere in the system. Things to look for are small leaks around the equipment-could be a bad o-ring. If you do not see any leaks, turn off the pump, remove the lid from the basket, check it for a hairline crack and check the o-ring under the lid to see if it is the cause of the loss of pressure.
