Pentair IntelliFlo VS-3050 & VS+SVRS Variable Speed Pump - - Page 4 Questions & Answers
I have an Intelliflo vs3050
I would suspect your speed controller has failed, this is a very common problem, the output SCR's/Triac's often go Open Circuit, this then will cause the exact symptoms you describe. These fail usually because of "Dirty Power Supplied"
You will have to have this Unit attended to to replace the speed controller unit onboard.
It maybe possible to remove the speed controller and simply have that repaired, as an option I guess. However it usually pays to return the unit to the manufacturer or authorised agent, for repairs, it usually in my experience, it actually gets it done, gets done faster, and works out to be the least expensive option overall.
I have your manual below for your convenience.

The motor on the pump likely has a shorted turn or turns. If the motor is still under warrantee then you are in luck.
I hope this helps.

I want to know how
The first thing I would do is read the owners manual. If you don't have one it is at the following address,
http://www.poolcenter.com/IntelliFloOm.pdf . I clean a pool that has the IntelliFlow and I control it manually. It works similar to the way yours does. Power is supplied to it all the time and according to Pentair the pump is supposed to be configured to the size of your pool, etc. I haven't read the manual but I am sure you can do figure it out after reading it. On the other hand if you paid someone to install and configure the pump then maybe you can ask them. I hope this helps.

Pool pump humming but motor
If the motor shaft is free to rotate, but is not moving at all when you turn it on, you probably need a start capacitor or centrifugal switch.
Take the motor to a "trustworthy" repair shop or write back to FixYa if you feel you can do more yourself.

check the suction side fitting, reset the threads and check or replace the lid o-ring. If there is not air showing in the check valve, it's more likely to be a suction side fitting leak. also be sure to check the impeller for debris.

The pump keeps trying to prime. There is no air
Most of the time you are sawing air from thpumo lid. Hav you lubricated the o-ring in the lid? If that doesn't work, keep working your way forward and lubricate the 3 way valves as well.

If you are trying to clean the rear fan assy., do not remove the 4 main through bolts. There are two small set screws to take out, and then the rear cover can be removed. The fan is just inside this plastic cover.

Can I install a vs
Yes, but make sure that the ozone generator is installed/plumbed DOWNSTREAM from the pump.
The reason is that pure ozone will make the plastic housing very britle if it passes through the pump, as well as weakening the seals and o-rings.

I have intelliflo VS+SVRS pool
There is either something blocking the suction side of this pump (blocked valve, strainer, strainer basket, leaves on main drain.) or the pump is not getting primed in the aloted amount of time. You can increase the priming time on the pump, or manually prime it, or just turn off the svrs feature temporarily until you get a good prime again. If you need the manual to figure out how to do these things, here is the link.

Pump will work manually when you turn it on but
This pump cannot work with a mechanical timer alone. You would need to use a pentair controller to use this in the fashion that you desire. The intellicomm P/N: 520641 is the cheapest way to accomplish this feature. However, if you have the intelliflo vs-3050 WITH SVRS then you simply need to program the timer to come on and off when you want it to. If you have only the VS-3050 with no SVRS , then you need the intellicomm module. Just incase you have the vs-3050 with SVRS, I will post the link for the manual so that you know how to program the timer. Any other questions, im @

The motor will not come
To protect the IntelliFlo pump electronics from damage due to freezing conditions, the pump will switch itself on to generate internal heat when the air temperature drops below 40° F. This feature is not intended to protect the system plumbing from freezing. The pump will run at a lower speed than what you have it set, unless you have programmed the adjustment.
The Intelliflow pumps are great pumps, but come at a disadvantage- A whole lot of electronics.; Since the intelliflow pumps are fairly newer in the market, and you have already had the electronics replaced recently, so I am going to presume that you still are under Pentair Manufacturer warranty.
The issue you are describing remains a problem with the electronics. Since you are not getting any alarm codes, there may be in issue in the wiring or you may have a defective pump. Before calling into the manufacture, lets reset the pump to factory defaults:
The IntelliFlo VS-3050 pump can be reset to the factory default settings. All previously adjusted pump speeds
that were saved will be erased.
To reset the pump to the factory default settings:
1. Ensure that the pump is powered on and the green power LED is on.
2. Press the Stop button to stop the pump.
3. Press and hold all of the four Speed buttons simultaneously for four seconds. Power off the drive
and reenergize. The default settings will be in effect.
If this solves your issues, then you can program the pump to operate at the desired time/speeds.
If you are still having issues, I recommend contacting Pentair Warranty at 800-831-7133. Be sure to have the date of install, the Serial and Model numbers handy when you call.
