If it is the small cover and not the complete cap style at back of motor, ?.. pit is at times, behind metal cover where the wiring is. Sometimes it is behind the foam insulator.

1081 is only a designation that the motor is used as a Pool motor. Not a model number. but yeah, normally just one.

The motor should separate from the pump, there's a big o-ring. Sounds like the motor is overheating. When out, check the impeller for debris, and it should spin freely. If it doesn't spin freely, you need a new motor, changing bearings is not easy. Don't throw away the old motor, it has other parts that may come in handy some day. Also, when you get a new motor, a new impeller will be a good idea. Getting the old impeller off is a trick, maybe the dealer will do it for you if the old impeller looks ok.

As pumps age, the bearings wear out. You may be able to get the bearings replaced at a rewinding shop. They can check your windings at the same time. It's always a good idea to have a spare pump handy. That way there is no down time while one is being fixed. A pool can get out of control quickly with no circulation.

normally, you don't change rotation, you only have a couple of voltage options.

this usually indicates an air leak in the plumbing. it will **** air because it is easier than water if there is a leak in the plumbing.

Look for a local dealer in the pump reapir or electric motor repair section of the yellow pages. They likely have the bearings and the seal based on seeing your old parts.

Yes this is an old thread but info is still helpful to those that are searching. Here is one diagram from a 3/4 motor. Be aware that most residential high voltage are 240v. This will have the motor turning a bit faster.

The values are stamped on the old capacitors. If you haven't got them, I would contact the manufacturers authorised agent for advice.

remove bump on motor and take picture of wiring before removing get numbers off try electrical supply

Try priming it water at the filter. Make sure that the filter o ring is sealing under the cap. Make sure there is enough water in the pool to enter the suction line and that it is not restricted.
